my truck's frickin' PISTONS !!!!!!!!!! the head gaskets or worse have gone out on the diesel tow vehicle. cab off repair at the dealer. seats out, carpet pulled up and cab suspended on the lift. frame and block with bed still attached sits below the lift. 85 seperate parts lying around and fluids all over the floor. fugly, fugly mess.

sad part is mine is probably only one of five currently in the shop for the same deal. they tell me it will be better than new when it is reassembled.

anyone want to buy a gently used ford diesel????

Let me guess, you have 6L Ford Diesel? If so, I'm not surprised. I bet you snapped a connecting rod. - AB

Soon, if you want the Chevy Diesel with the Allison you'll pay $10k more, instead of today's $7195 option.

GM Sells Allison

Good call GM. Sell your most profitable division. - AB

The Allison for the Duramax Diesel is a $1200 option. The $7195 option is the Duramax Diesel.

Plus to quote the article:

"A Baltimore plant used for the production of conventional and hybrid transmissions used in GM's pick-up trucks and SUVs and will remain with the automaker."

All of the Silverado HD's have been upgraded to receive a version of the Allison. At least according to the HD rep at Chris Leith...but I am interested in the diesel.
