Any one know if you can get a expired license/registration taken car of earlier than your court date by seaing the county clerk or something?

My mom got a ticket for expired registration and she just went down to the courthouse and paid the fine and showed proof of current registration before the court date.

Just give the clerk of court a call.

Your Mom paid the fine? In most counties you don't have to do that if you *do* show up on the court date with proof you took care of it. I watched countless charges dismissed in Wake county during an appearance for one of my many "awards." Now, if you need to take care of it early, perhaps you do have to pay. My guess is you would have to go through the DA, not the clerk, to get it dropped.

Here in Lee County, I went to the DA's office and showed proof of registration and they dropped the whole thing. I didn't have to pay anything other than the registration fee at the DMV.

With that being said, my wife and I BOTH got a ticket (and she got an additional registration ticket tacked on) on the way to this past Laurinburg event. We thought the part of 15/501 we were on was 55. In actuality, the 55 didn't start for another 100 yards. She was trailing right behind me and the "nice" officer said she was actually going faster than I was (I was doing 58 ) and he also said he would cut us a break and put us both doing the same speed. In this case, since another infraction was involved, we have to take the registration issue to court as well, instead of just getting it dropped before-hand.

Anyone know a good (and inexpensive) lawyer in the Moore county area? There goes my flawless driving record. :(

Has anyone had any effect on insurance with the registration violations?

Nate I seriously think you should fight that, and if they want one charge, plead below 9mph and it shouldnt affect your insurance...

Regisration-get it done early, go with proof on your court date or call the clerk b4 hand, but expect a lot of run around...

Fyi:
