We started hijacking the FWD alignment thread, I thought that was a little rude, so I thought we should start our own.

For those of you looking to kick my ass in FM2 like you do in autocross and rallycross, my gamer tag is STS2 42. Original, isn't it?

Post you tags and lets see if we can get together sometime for a little beat up on Todd time!!

I don't have Forza yet, but I went thru my game collection trying to pick enough to trade for Forza (and a used copy of Fable, now backwards compatible)

RevChuck is my tag.

Is this game actually good enough for me to consider picking up a 360? My recollection is that they're not real cheap.

The 360 is not cheap unless you compare it to a PS3.

The reviews I have seen rate Forza very well as a car junky game. There are tons of setup options, data logging of laps. I havre heard that some teams ae even using six 360s linked to six screens for a full surround effect and their drivers are "practicing" with this. The physics engine uses over 2000 inputs, the cars take damage.

You can even custom paint your car, for the StarWars dorks:

Also Colin Macreas DIRT will be coming out soon, and it is looking very good.

(Also Halo 3 and GTA IV :) )

Nope they are not cheap. Its gonna be just under 5 bills to get the 360, Forza 2 and a warranty

As for the game, its good, damn good. I'm only level 16 right now so I have not driven all the cars yet. I can say that the CRX Si sounds just like Feinberg's CRX. It has off throttle oversteer and it burns the tires down coming out of corners if you aren't careful. There is not a suspension parameter that you CANNOT change. Hell you even get to pick between Hoosiers, Kuhmo's, Yoko's, 'Stone for tires (there are more).

Where it falls short is in the reality category. My CRX now has almost 600 hp on the D16 (turboed)   I got it up to 190 mph last night on the Rockingham esque course. It seems to be real easy to hop up the cars

I downloaded the demo for Dirt and it was reall fun. Not a realistic as FM2 as far as dynamics are concerned, but it has a ton of different types of courses you can do. Pike's Peak, Baja type rally, WRC, Dakar, you name it, it is there.

FM2 is absolutely the best driving simulater I have played. I haven't started hopping up my car yet, I've been too busy doing quick races online and beating everybody handily. I really need to start a career so I can up my ranking.

More than a Wii (which I also have) and less than a PS3 (who can afford those?)

Probably true as far as building "reliable" engines that don't explode at the end of each race. It would have been interesting if they simulated "on the edge" engines, etc. that may fail during the race.

I built an "A" class 914 which is about 1800 lbs and over 250 HP. Any more HP and it would have jumped out of class. Anyhow, even with sticky tires, I am able to break the rears loose on exits of turns in 3rd gear. But so far I am able to generally control it. It is going to be freaking scary if my real 914 acts that way when I am done with it.

That sounds like some online smack talk! ;) We need to organize some races!

It's amazing how easy it is to beat punk ass kids who don't have a clue what they are doing. They let me use a R4 class car against their S class!! Idiots!!!!

It can also be pretty scary to race with them when damage is turned on. Nothing quite like getting hammered from behind in the first turn because they don't understand the concept of slowing down for turns and then having to limp back to the pit to get your car fixed.

At least on long tracks like Nurburgring, you can let them all crash out (in front of you) early on and then you never see them again as you motor away into the distance.
