I've seen conflicting reports on whether or not those would work on a jetboat. It seems like they would, but I don't know. The ones in that picture are mounted where my jets are, so I would have to mount them further out, which might reduce how well they work?

FWIW, I found that I'm missing some sealant along the intake grates for my pumps. Supposedly this can cause a bit of cavitation, so I'm going to pull those apart and reseal them over the winter. I'll probably blast the paint off of them and have them powdercoated, since they have a little bit of corrosion starting to form.

They are actually supposed to be mounted further out. Having driven your boat it doesn't suffer from most of the problems with my big heavy truck-motor laden boat.

Do you get a lot of porpoising and hard hits over rough water? If so then I think you'd see an improvement.

Yes the choppy water on the north side of the ebenezer bridge the other weekend was brutal. We were limited to about 15mph without beating up the passengers. That is what I would like to improve. Think they would rip off during a spin?

Jason, the tabs will work on any boat, the further from the boats center of balance the better. If the boat tends to cavitate with them a simple adjustment should remedy the problem. But I wouldn't think that they would.

Rip off? Probably not. But I bet they would put a damper on your spin-ability... Can you find anyone else who has tried them on your boat? What's the model?

Trim tabs will probably not prevent a spin but will be destroyed by forcing the boat Backwards at a high rate of speed.... I've ripped them off the the fifty footer buy backing down too hard...they're built to go forward. so if your thing is to spin the boat and as a result you go backwards at speed they're not for you.

Mike, there's not a lot of info on people installing these on my model (LX210) . There are a few people, but it's hard to tell if they are just sold on the improvement based on the fact that they spent money.

I guess the boating thing must be in the genes. I knew my dad had a couple of fishing boats but I didn't realize he had some cool runabouts when I was young and before I was born .... Mom just had some old slides scanned and we spotted these today:

Probably ~ 1971? That's my sister smiling for the camera. I think this is a Sea Ray? Pretty neat looking with all the fiberglass work.

And a Caravelle (?) from about 1977 or so, I must have been 5 or 6 (that's me in the pic, girl lived next door). Funny I remember the boat at home but don't remember ever being out on it.

The boats are great, but I *really* dig the look of those old outboards for some reason. I wanna stumble across a deal on one at some point so that I can add it to the man cave just as artwork. For some reason I think it needs to be an Evinrude, but a cool Mercury might do.

Great Pictures...

I can't tell you how many times I run across hulls of this vintage in the woods with trees growing around and sometimes in them. The story is always the same... lost the lower unit.... was going to fix... 30 years later.. there it sits.

Seems like they took a lot of cues from the automotive production cars of the time.

Soft scrub is magic on mildewed vinyl.

You weren't kidding about this!
I'm getting my boat ready to sell so thought it was finally time to attack the stains on the vinyl.

Thanks for posting this.
