I followed his STS build of that car and saw this thread a couple days ago. His attention to detail is amazing and it is great that he shares the basis to his build to everyone.

Interesting article/forum post. But I did get all excited when I read this...

"It might be surprising then, that if you lined up ghosts of a top STS car and a top SM car on course, the SM car, for all its power, grip, and hardcore race-preparedness, only walks away from the STS car, albeit at a brisk 3.5mph, on an average speed course."

I was thinking that I was about to see a video of the overlay. But he didn't have that to show. That 3.5 mph diff is an average over an entire run, so I would love to see when and where the SM car starts to walk away from the STS car and where the STS car holds its own.

Really cool write up, although that 3.5 mph doesnt sound like much in reality it is a tremendous amount. But this guy is sharp and his approach to the goal seems very sound. I imagine he will have some success.

After reading over his thread and reviewing nationals results from the SM classes over the past few years, I am really thinking those top guys in those classes are having alot of fun. If I were a wealthier man I think I would really enjoy building and playing in the SM national scene. Too bad I dont have that kind of budget, nor driving talent. I would have to build the car and offer co-drives to top level drivers, still lots of fun. It was fun doing it over the past couple years at the local level on a cheaper smaller scale chasing down Patrice, but the national level would be an order of magnitude more fun I believe...

I believe he linked to it in that thread, but his STS build thread is just as detailed as that one.

Between those two threads, and bits of information that he has provided in other threads, I think you could duplicate everything he has done. The only thing I haven't seen him provide is the details of his engine rebuild, and the shock valving. That's kind of a fresh approach, considering most people are so secret with this information.
