never thought it would happen to me. one of my employees' company credit cards. fortunately the credit card company caught it and called the cardholder for verification of unusual charges.

the fraud started small with a $9 charge to a pecan website in Texas, a $9 charge to a travel firm in Chicago, and then they went for $2K & $4k somewhere in IndoChina. scary shit.

according to the rep from the bank, this was likely a person running random numbers looking for a card sequence that would produce a charge.

FYI

Had the same sort of situation with my company card.. A small charge ten dollars in the UK for a subsciption to a gaming site. I canceled the card Immediately cause I knew what would be comming next. Once your number gets used dump the card or you'll be sorry. I'm sure they sell or at least pass those numbers around.

I called into my office one day and asked if anything was going on and my receptionist said no, when I questioned for any messages she said nothing except some call from the Fraud Department as Wachovia. After I thoroughly discussed this qualifing as something I called them and they had somebody in La and TX buying ALOT of gas and stuff from wal mart. They took care of all of it with out much effort from me.
