My niece is looking at a 97 acura integra

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/car/268298060.html

I think it is in North Raleigh. Does anyone know of a good shop in that area to have it checked out. I probably can't get up there to look at it for her.

I would ask if the Timing belt has been changed. Most Honda's need them around the 90000 to 100000 mile range.

He's a little ways away from N Raleigh, out near Jordan lake, but worth the drive. Tell him I sent you, he'll take care of you.

Changing the Timing Belt on and Integra? Took me about 4 hours on mine and I had never done it before.

Now on my VW thats a lengthy job... but when you have to take the whole front end of a car off to to the timming belt it makes it quite lenghty.

Not really, I would guess Gary would charge ~450ish for an integra including all parts & labor.

I have had Craig at Carolina Imports inspect the cars I have bought if they weren't new.

Where are they located (I haven't lived in Raleigh in 20 years)

See BOLD text above...

I have done the timing belt on my Civic. I guess it could have taken me only 4 hours the first time if I rushed the job and didn't take my time. I am sure I could do it in that time now after having done it the first time.

I need to do the belt and waterpump in the Odyssey and it IS expensive IMHO if you have it done someplace like a dealership. I don't think it is expensive due to the amount of labor, but rather that they know they can get away with charging as much as they do. I will probably do the Odyssey myself to save money.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Now you can read the bold text above. Tao auto charged me about 400 to do the del sol many years ago, and I really don't consider that expensive. I am sorry you think I rushed and did not take my time on the timming belt change in my integra....
