It I was to talk to the ad agency, I might say you may get more customers with honey vs. vinegar.
I think you're out of the target demographic

I'm only half kidding. Would you
ever switch from your current platform?
Apple tried honey for years and it got them what, 2% market share?
I'm not a zealot, but I am ready to admit that each platform has it's strong points. That's what these ads are illustrating. And it's working. I think they're at 5% or so today. Dependant on who's counting I'm sure.
Related Graphic Geeking.Granted that's a little dated, but it makes a point.
Yes, I have worked on a PC. But Apple continues to make strides in my fields that are light years ahead of what's available on the PC (i.e. Aperture and Final Cut Pro Studio come to mind).
Continuing my hijack..
I am not sure what the target demographics are? From watching the commercials I tend to believe they are looking for people who have a low self image and that if they buy a Mac they will somehow be cool.

They show the cool, younger and good looking guy as the Mac and the dumpy older guy as Windows. The commercial just doesn't work if you switch the guys around, so it's pretty clear what they are trying to say. In a weird Star Wars kind of twist, it’s not Darth Vader saying “come to the dark side”, but rather some 20 something saying “come to the cool side”. The force is much stronger with me.
Would I switch? Maybe. I tend to build my own PCs, so only having the Apple’s version of a chef choice menu on the hardware side is a bit of an obstacle. I also don’t feel the need to pay the extra money for the styling. Computer hardware for me is a commodity item. I don’t pay extra for stylish toasters or computers. I am more impressed with the OS, so that is where the real value in a Mac would be for me. I am also about 50/50 Windows/Linux now, so the fact that Mac OS is based upon Unix has appeal to me.
Regarding increased market share, I would tend to think that they are offering a better product more and more every day and that IMHO is a major factor. Having ads of any type is going to get people interested and those ads ARE working. Just IMHO not as well as I think they could. I just think they preach to the converted and those who are swayed by the "cool" factor. I am not a fan of Bill Gates, but I think the other day he was quoted as saying that right now Apple could sell a brick and people would buy it because it is made by Apple. I tend to believe that there is some truth to that. Look at iPods. How many iPod buyers actually researched the non-Apple products? Probably their research consisted of which iPod to get! What Mac has going for it is that even if it looses the cool factor, it still is a VERY good system and most everyone that has one is probably very happy with it.
