Since the annual X-mas party is also time for membership renewal and stuff I had an idea. :idea2:

What about selling a season pass for 2004? You could pay for all eight events and not have to worry about it again until next year. Maybe offer a discount to encourage people to buy them? Say $120.00 for all eight events which would save the person $40 overall annually.

Besides the annual savings it would guarantee you a spot at each event. No refunds, non-transferable if you don't show up to run.

I know PayPal has worked great this year (right Tom?) so maybe this could help even more? One less thing for the registration folks to worry about IMO.

Thoughts anyone?

This idea has been kicked around before. The "pros" are as you described. The cons?

- Since people are prepaid, some people may come out on occasion where they normally would have skipped an event or two. Since we have waitlists, this may keep someone from participating who wanted to even more

- If there is no dis-incentive to unregister, we will be seeing a LOT more no-shows, which will cause mayhem with the entry caps and cause some heartburn among people on the waitlist

- The registration lists are used by T&S and other responsibilities to determine who will be doing what. If the list has all of the season pass people on it, we can't tell for sure if all of those people are coming or not.

Entering for individual events the way we do it now forces a commitment. It would be too easy for some people to be wishy-washy until the day before the event, which would be bad for the organizers.

Now, with that said, I would like to see us "season pass" all officers and position holders.

I understand Mike's "con" list. But I think that would be if you registered for the entire year in advance. Unless I am wrong, I think Vincent is just talking about payment only.

So, I could see a season pass for payment (with a price break like Vincent says), but you would still have to register for each an every event like it is today. It would just work like the "Paypal" line. They would have a list of those who are registered AND have already paid (Paypal or Season Pass).

Is this what you meant Vincent?

Edit: Oops, I re-read Vincent's post and he DID mention year in advance registration. Regardless, just the payment part might work. If you DO register for each event then it could be a cost savings to the driver as well as potentially less of a headache for the club. But if you buy a season pass and don't attend events, well it would only be a good deal for the club. :)

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Initially when I had the idea it was for just the payment. After thinking about it further, I wondered what incentive would make someone want to pay that much up front. I figured a guaranteed spot would do just that.

I can see Mike's points regarding the downside, though I think we can work something out. Maybe with a few changes the idea to could work.

Regardless I'd like to pay up front. That would be one more thing I could mark off my Autox checklist I have for each event. Besides a season pass would make a great X-mas gift don't you think? 8)

I like it from a standpoint of payment only. Initial money up front, but registration like before. All we'd need to do is issue a 'Season Pass' card that could be laminated at any Kinkos for $1. If you lose it, then tough break. :) - AB
