i'm going to get a tire trailer (4x4)...what has to be done to register the thing...i went to the DMV yesterday to register my car, and they told me it would be like $70 to register it, depending on the fair market value of the trailer. Is this right. I know that the trailer has a VIN and will have a plate, but do you still have to pay the NC road usage tax. If so, is there any inspection that has to be done, and do you have to renew your plates ever year...it seems like a bit much, so i thought i'd ask you all.

If you are buying it new, Northern will handle the title and plate for you. At least they did for me. I would check with them.
