Mike has become a fan of cars that have valve blow by within the first 36k :) - AB

Do you still have the Passat wagon Mike? I suppose it could have been worse. He could have used VW and "enthusiast" in the same sentence.

All I have to say is F Volkswagen.

I like my Durango so much that it has given me new respect for D-C. Especially since everyone seems to hate the cars they make, which makes used ones so cheap. Yeah, I'd drive a Magnum or a 300M. In fact I should drive the VW into Jordan Lake and replace it with a Magnum.

PS - I timed 0-60 in the Durango the other day with a G-tech. Standing start, just mashed the pedal. 3 people in the truck and some gear. 0-60 in 7.0 seconds. Yeah I guess I'm a HEMI fan.

Your Volkswagen should be eligible to vote in the midterm elections next week. Do you know which way that it's leaning?

You know RallyX has been around for a while now... time for something new. When is THSCC starting the destruction derby division?

I inherited a 01 Dakota Quad Cab with the 5.9 in it about 4 months ago. I actually titled it in my name about 6-8 weeks ago. Literally less than 1 minute after I slapped an NC tag on it, it left me stranded. Battery died. The following week, going around a corner the truck cut off and I lost power steering and came about 2 feet from plowing into a lady in a mini-van...her expression was priceless as I was headed right towards the driver side door. Luckily it stopped. An injector got stuck open and caused it to stall. I'm slightly jaded. Blue book on it I think is in the 11-12k range...if I got 6k for it I would be shocked.

Maybe it's a Westerfield thing? I borrowed the truck from Steve and 20 minutes later the CEL came on (after he got the injector thing fixed). Then dad owned that Lebaron that liked to get a new transmission everytime you had it in for an oil change.

I think Dr. Z blocks our calls now.

Mike, now your just exaggerating. 5 transmissions in 8 years is normal.....right?

The BBC's Top Gear also reported in a Chrysler Crossfire review that the Chrysler Crossfire has "an awful gear box that leaps out of first gear and goes "gaaah, gaaaunk!" every time you set off. Later in the show the other host says to Jeremy Clarkson "you should thank your lucky stars you weren't driving that automatic one". Jeremy replies, "I heard it's really bad" while the other host makes a sour face while tilting his head downward to express just how bad it is. Chrysler still couldn't do it even with the help of Mercedes Benz? Chrysler vehicles have suffered from chronic Transmission problems since the mid '80s, nearly 20 years, so does the company care enough to ever get it right?

Kind of funny how there are so many opinions on the car. Dave O Maley's SLK has withstood a couple years of autocrossing now with no problems most of this year has been with 2 drivers as well. Only issue has been with people running into his car when it is parked in parking lots.

I thought that O'Maley's issue was with codrivers attempting the 1-R shift. Twice. During a fun run. Not that that's the wrong way to do teh autocross...

I vote for figure eight racing.

In defense of Chrysler, I have a Turbo van that has only had to have a head gasket(Blown hose, overheated) and I put a new turbo on while the head was off. It has over 200,000 miles on it
I like VWs to. As long as you don't run them a grand into redline over and over they hold up OK.

That wasn't a co-driver that was just Borka taking a fun run. But you know most transmissions would hold up just fine to a shift from 1st to reverse at about 30 mph, it is just those damn Mercedes trannies that screw up.

Well, since this thread is no longer about the original topic, and this "fits" in with the new topics being discussed...

I was describing rallycross to a lady at work yesterday. I explained how people take either their daily driver (like me), a cheap POS, or something like a rally car out and race around a field, with cars launched at certain intervals, cumulative times, etc. etc. etc. The lady sitting beside her (whom you can tell is not even 25% there by looking straight into her eyes at any time) said, "Is that like a demolition derby?"

"Uh... Yes, it's exactly like that."

She then suggested the first lady take her horse out and race it with us.

At that point I said, "Okay, Anders - wake up so I can get the Hell out of here."

They didn't get it. :whoknows:

Oh, and she's a SCIENTIST at Glaxo-Smith-Kline.

"We put some cones in a field and try to drive around them as fast as possible" usually conveys the message but doesn't really explain how FUN it is :)

It sounds like trying to explain the mechanics of sex. You really just have to be there to understand. 8)

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.
