I will probably need to have a custom trailer hitch made up in the near future. Does anyone locally do that? Thanks in advance.

Many U-Hauls do (the one on Capital does) as does Raleigh Hitch near the intersection of Glenwood and Peace St. Does the SLK hitch not bolt up? I figure that O'Maley would be able to do measurements for you (I think that I remember seeing a hitch on his car).

For what vehicle and what towing class?

Can you weld/do you want to undertake a project? :)

Biggest problem is the center exit exhaust which I plan on removing and making something custom, since I have some nice 3 inch exhaust tubing sitting in my garage. The next problem is I want to minimize the slicing of the underbody panels in the rear. I will actually call Dave now to see if he can tell me where he got his hitch from.

be careful doing ANY slicing of the rear panel if you want to stay in stock class. You CANNOT cut new exhaust clearance notches for example. You would be walking a thin line if you adjust the opening in the center for the hitch receiver. I'd give Doug Gill a call at SCCA before you cut anything.

I pulled the exhaust from the cat back off yesterday. I am going to be making up a hitch myself with the help of my dad. He has been welding for 25 years and we can get the correct hitch pieces from Rigid Hitch. It looks as if I don't have to cut anything bodywork wise and the exhaust will just be routed around the hitch and probably just have a turndown near the back of the car. So no cutting required. :D

Give Chris Schimmel a call. He can build anything!
