A lawyer with reasonable fees??? You're kidding... right? :banghead:
Yeah, I know whatcha mean...
But I meant 'reasonable' in the relative sense, as in the legalese field.
As it turned out, I spoke to one suggested by another forum's member and I just picked out of one out of the automatic letters you get when your citation shows up on the public court docket.
They both, especially the 'random' one were willing to give me a few minutes to discuss some things about what I'd be facing in today's court setting, Both were very helpful in the final analysis, especially the 'random' one. He's only recently left the DA's office and had good contacts, so he was particularly insightful about their tactics. I'd probably hire him if I needed one and could afford it at that time.
It turned out that even going in per se I basically was offered the best deal I could have probably gotten at any stage, lawyer or not. I really didn't have a chance nor a need to really present any of the defense issues I'd developed. Worst charge summarily dismissed after about 30 secs. of thought by the DA and a tacit agreement to recommend a PJC on the other if the judge would agree, which he did. So, $110 and no ins. or driver pts., although I may still get hammered for the accident. However the ins. co. seems to be taking the 'forgiveness' approach similar to another co. that advertises that deal. As to date they're listing it as a 'not at fault' accident and my rates on the new re-up with them shortly afterwards, with them aware of the wreak and having paid out some of the claim already, were the same as before. Hopefully they'll continue to rate me that way. Whewww!!! So far.....
