So... who else has noticed this...

Karl Kauffman... MAL in 2001... moves to Charlotte, then SC, now VA.
Matt Nicholson... MAL in 2002... moves to Shelby.
Diane Hall... MAL 2003... moves to MA.

All of these moves for jobs.

You guys go ahead and figure out who you want to move away in 2004 and get on to railroading them in October... or if you don't want to lose anyone else, I expect to see Kauffman, Matt, and me on the ballot in December.

r2x ~ who must be a bit "high" on marker fumes... back to packing boxes I go... Oh joy!

Despite the apparent effectiveness of the current MAL export program, the real role of members-at-large is to

(a) Step in when one of the other officers becomes unable to continue his/her duties, and
(b) Assist with activities that entertain or benefit the membership - Christmas Party entertainment, for example.

Of course, the "vote them off the island" aspect has a certain appeal :)

Suggest we keep on electing people we hope will stay around for MAL, and for those that have flown the coop, create a new group known as the "Tarheel Missions Team". The TMT will be responsible for positively representing THSCC in foreign lands, while not giving away too many of our trade secrets. They also have to bring home a lot of wood whenever they return.

Maybe good news,,,

I read that a group is proposing a new track in Tamworth, NH. Tamworth is about 2 - 1/2 hours or so north from Beantown. They're going through the usual approvals now.
Perhaps our "Member at Large" can get us an event there?
