Yup,
Bob Cleveland set a land speed record for a lawn mower.

Interesting. My plan was to build a high speed Moped, but a mower sounds better(Aside from the many years of fixing mowers for a paycheck)

They race riding lawn mowers down in Duplin County - Chris Lanier's home. He told me he once built a lawn mower that would cut grass at 45 mph! I think it was orange with a #1 on the side and a Confederate flag painted on the hood.

It would have gone 46 mph if it was black with a #3 :)

The problem is you aren't running against the "3". 3+3 = 6 > 9 :wink:
