Miata passing an STi? :o

Man, those 'racing stripes' must add more power than I knew about!

Bring it...to the track! You'll be amazed how fast a 106HP car will catch you. Of course they don't allow you to "hack it up" on track...w/o a black flag that is.

I think even the best drivers in this club would think twice about bringing their 30K+ cars out to the track. I know I am no different. I would LOVE to bring the STi out, but I know the way I drive, and that leads to a high prb of me being dead.I know that some people in the club might like to see that, but none of you are that lucky... yet ;).

AutoX... rallyX... I am working them slowly and inorder. I will eventually make it to HPDEs and TT.

I *majorly* applaud anyone doing TT and HPDEs. I don't have the funds/setup that allow that to be a reality for me, atm, but I thought the pics were awesome. :)

While I am not part of that group and don't own a $30K car, I would certainly have no reservation about doing what you say. The fact that at one of the Rockingham events last year there were 4 Z06 Corvettes in proximity speaks to the fact that there are others who think that way too.

Understood and I can see there are people who think that way. It is just not a situation that I feel I am adequately prepared or ready for at this time.

I wish those who do make that decision the best of luck.

What would you need to do? Pads, maybe a larger rear sway bar (which you probably still have) and some cheapie 615's? I've been thinking about this and the rear sway is probably a must since the larger front sway I have probably requires something larget than a stock rear for the high speed stuff. Your rotors are probably due for a change soon anyway.

I still have a 3 year old unused VIR gift from my wife...Hmmmmm...

Could be wrong, but maybe he's saying that HE's not quite prepared for it.......

You don't need a modified car to do DE's. A well maintained car that's 100% stock will work just fine.

Yeah I am pretty sure Brian meant that he is not ready to make the leap of putting his 30k car out on the track. For those of you that know Scott Farmer , he did a track day at VIR last year about 2 months after getting his STi and went off in the rain coming out of turn 12 on the north course and stuffed the tire wall. Luckily the only thing that needed replacing was the front driver's fender, new rear sway bar endlinks and get the car re-aligned. Still an awakening and made me think twice about taking my WRX out because it is so new. But then I shouldn't be talking since the last car I took out to a track day was a 1967 Shelby GT500.

I'm going to post the photos either tomorrow night or Sunday. So if you want to see the graphics before then, you'll just have to come to the rallyx.

:P
