Just a thanks to Mike for helping me with a front sway bar install last night. On my car the install was a little more involved (unbolting subframe, etc) than I wanted to do on jack stands. Mike's lift made it a breeze and we were easily done in less than 2 hours. So thanks Mike, hope you enjoyed the rest of the beer!

The ride home was fine. The new motor mount does give me a lot more vibration, but seemed to reduce some of the clunking I had under harder launches. With the bar up front things have really flattened out. It was still a little too wet to push it too hard, but dry enough that I could tell a difference.

Thanks again!

You're welcome!

(PS - are any other FWD cars this hard to put a bar on? I was pretty amazed at how involved it was. It took us nearly 2 hours, on a lift, with a good set of tools, and only one minor problem. Swaybar sits on top of the subframe and under/behind the steering rack. The engine mount, subframe, steering rack, and exhaust needed to all be loosened/removed so the bar could slip out between the subframe and the unibody rearwards. Guess I'm spoiled by RWD cars where there are usually only 6 bolts and the bar is off.)

Factory procedure on my car is to support the engine and transaxle and then remove the front crossmember. So yeah, it is a bitch on my FWD.

OTOH, I can get the oil pan off in 5 minutes, unlike my RWD cars where it was a major undertaking. Of course, my FWD car has a boxed oil pickup and windage screen from the factory where my previous RWD car had no tray or boxing and a well known reputation for requiring baffling the pan or risking destruction of the rod bearings.

Five of one, quarter score of another.

on my old mkIV gti it was a pain the first time you did it....you also had to drop the subframe...later installs got easier though

On on my Integra and Del Sol you have to take the shift forks off.

Yes most FWD are that difficult. fortunately not many need a stiffer bar up front they push like a dumptruck already.

Hmm, on the Neon it's right there in front of you- 5-10 mins max. Same as on my old Omni. I didn't realize that was unusual. I'll have to look and see what's involved in doing the Mini.

It's easy on the Contour. All that you have to do is support the engine and transaxle and remove the exhaust y-pipe and drop the subframe. Should only take you about ten hours, if you've done it before.
