Think prices are high here? I just checked and petrol in the UK costs about 96p per litre. That's $6.48 per US gallon !

14 gallons in my WRX = $90 to "fill 'er up".

If gas prices continue going up I might need to sell the WRX and get something better on gas. This 25 mpg on Premium fuel when you drive 80 miles is getting expensive.

Hm. Someone else gets all their news from the BBC website too, eh? 8)

My back of the envelope calculations made it about $7 a US gallon, however. I'll take your increased precision to indicate that envelopes weren't involved in your case.

But the answer to this problem is never to get rid of vehicles, it's always an excuse to get more. It just means you need something in addition to the WRX. In my case, the Harley gets somewhere between 40-55 mpg, although it's drinking premium too. My rule of thumb is I spend about $10 whenever I top it up.

I have no idea what mileage the TA gets. I just fill it up when it demands more and don't even bother to look at the pump. Not much point in worrying about it when I'm going to fill it up regardless of what it costs.

I would normally agree with your but when you already own three cars it starts becoming an issue. The miata doesn't get daily driven and the Legacy is even questionable if I will put it on the road since it is strictly a rallycross car and I have use of a diesel truck and trailer to tow to events.

Just one more reason to keep the CRX around. 2 seats and 92chp of fun. Still gets close to 40mpg at 166k miles.

My BMW gets 50 mpg and is a blast to drive. Oh and I just found out that BMW makes cars too. Imagine my surprise.

Everytime I visit the pump these days in our Miata people always say "I'll bet that little car is good on gas". Well compared to a Suburban maybe. At least all of our car use 87 octane.

That's just it Simon, "petrol" costs more than gas everywhere.

I got the extremes now...V8's and single cylinder. My life is all about black and white!

What they say is true...the two happiest days in a man's life are the day he buys a boat and the day he sells it!!!!!

So you finally sold it! I'd have to agree with that. Mine was a blast when the kids were teens and we were out on it all the time. Once that ended I couldn't wait to sell it off. They can be money pits...

For a more depressive note did some of you check what kind of MPG you are getting on the racetrack?
Last year at VIR-N, I check using my 5 gal. cans and the Porsche seem to be around 8-9 mpg

Yup, that's about what I was getting. It's amazing how much fuel you can burn when you're on boost most of the time.

Who needs boost? I get 11-12 out of my Focus which, need I remind you, is an economy car! I checked twice, now I don't any more. Who needs to know?

My advantage is that I am slow so I do fewer miles! :lol2:
