Jeb, I haven't tried Michael Dean's, but I've been to Bogart's. How do they compare? I REALLY liked Bogart's. Gonna have to try Twisted Fork sometime also.

Wes, Where is East Coast Wings. I've been looking for a good wing place. Ever since Wings to Go started changing their fry oil, their wings haven't been nearly as good!!!

ECW is at the intersection of Harrison and Maynard, in the shopping center with the Harris Teeter.

Pretty similar. MD was first. The menu is comprable. I know that they have recently revamped the menu, so I am not sure if it is still on par with Bogarts or not. MD does have some good seafood dishes and is a little more "relaxed" compared to the chic atmosphere at Bogarts.

Frasier's on Hillsborough St in Raleigh.

My wife loves Maximillians on Chapel Hill Rd Cary.

I recommend making reservations for both.

Thanks for the ideas. I think we will be trying a few of these over the next few weeks.

Any others? Where is the best Thai food in the area? How about the best Mexican? Or how about a good brick oven pizzeria? And how about good homemade donuts (no krispy kreme or dunkin allowed!)?

thanks

Good Mexican in Apex is La Rancherita. Not brick oven, but J & S is great. The place is a dive, but the food is amazing.

For Thai I like Sawadi off Capitol Blvd, The King and I in Cary. For "date nite for food snobs" you need to go to Durham: Magnolia Grill ranks in the top ten in the country with a menu that changes daily, Nanas is a very close second. For food snob beef in a family friendly place you can't go wrong with Angus Barn, the executive chef recently competed on Iron Chefs and the decor is as interesting as the meals, and be sure to pick up an apple as you leave.
The only place for AUTHENTIC Buffalo chicken wings in the triangle is in our kitchen!

My favorite inexpensive restaurant is Bahama Breeze. Actually, bang for the buck it rates very high with me and I highly recommend it.

On the other end of the scale, and another place I highly recommend, is Il Palio's in Chapel Hill (located in the Sienna Hotel). Not for the budget minded but this is a great place for a SPECIAL occasion. Dinner for two with good wine and tip is in the ~$150- $175 range. I've dined there several times and have never been disappointed. Jacket required for men.
