OK - my wife and I are looking for a new place to try in the Cary/Apex/FV/Garner side of Raleigh.

So, list here your favorite places to eat that are somewhat family friendly. And please note, that my wife and I freely admit we are food snobs. :)

Second for Sullivan's. Not sure on the family friendly aspect though, haven't tried that myself yet.

With us being the food snobs we are... we are willing to pay. The quality of the food is the most important, variety is good too.

For us, a cheap dinner is a TGI/Tuesday/Applebees choice, which we rarely eat. We usually step it up on our dinner out nights to Sushi at Kashin. So, something in that range is what we are looking for. Family of two adults, one 8yr old, a 2yr old and an infant eating for under $75 incl tax/tip is generally what we are looking for.

Does that narrow things down a bit.

Tell me about Sullivans.

$75 will generally pay for one person.

Well that sounds like a great 'date' night place... but with kids in tow I think we will skip it. :)

Is it worth the $s?

I think it is. There's also Ruth Chris' Steakhouse in Cary. I don't know how much that one cost, but I believe it's going to be close to that same price range.

There's Kabuki Japanese Steakhouse in Cary. It's similar to Kanki where they do the little cooking show for you. You can probably get out of there for around $75

We have eaten at the Ruth's Chris down in Tampa and enjoyed it. It is pricey but not too bad for a once in a while dinner out.

Let's see how about Lucky 32? Meals from $7 to $30. Fancy enough to please the food snob's palate but they have stuff the kids will like. Get reservations for Fri/Sat. It is popular. Located on Tryon road just off of US1 in Cary and in other locations in N. Raleigh.

In the same neighborhood you can try Rio canchariria (sp?) Brazilian steak house. It's a bit more pricey at $25 for adult and $15 for kids but it is all you can eat. Falls into that "something different" catagory. All the meat is cooked on spits, which they bring to the table and serve.

Another choice is the Bonefish grill on Harrison. Price range from $14 - $30. Good seafood with food snob type preperation.

That's all I've got for now. I'm hungry for some reason.

I should be a food critic.

What about Todd's Diner??

I hear he will cook up some groceries for around $75 and include a bottle of diet coke for free!!!!!

Khanki is a neat change of pace. Stuff ranging from ~$15 to $30 I think and it's plenty of food. It's one of the Japanese steakhouse type places, so they cook up the food right in front of you. There's one in crabtree mall and another one in North Raleigh, but I forget exactly where.

I have always liked Michael Deans. They also own and run Bogarts (downtown near Sullivans) and the Twisted Fork at Triangle Town Center. My wife and I also really like Magianos (sp?) at the Streets of Southpoint mall. Just my two bits...
