Nope. If I did I probably would care about moles and voles. Lawns only concern city folk.
Besides why would anyone worry about a cup of gas once a year getting in their well when their septic field is only a hundred feet away 24-7???

Glad your not my neighbor Chuck. I also hear that DDT is great at controlling insects as well. Mix the DDT and Gas in a single container and spray around your yard. You should be able to get the Moles, Voles, Yellow Jackets and Mosquitos all at once. Might kill a few people a few years from now as well, but thats someone elses problem.

I guess you need to weigh the risks versus benefits, we don't live in a perfect world. My opinion is that there is a far greater real risk to people from the bite of fire ants or sting of wasps and hornets than the likelyhood of harming anyone by pouring a cup of gasoline in the ground. After all where did that gasoline come from in the first place? According to the archeologists, animals and now man have survived pretty sucessfully in the area surrounding the La Brea tar pits for eons.
I don't see you driving a hybrid or electric vehicle or even a bicycle at the AXs for being such a tree hugger... shouldn't preach what you don't practice.

Iam not going to drag this out in a big multi post discussion Chuck. This is going to be my last post on this. Feel free to get the last word in on me after this post...

Gasoline is not La Brea tar pits. I don't know a great deal about this but it is additives like MTBE (which I believe is being phased out) that causes the problems. These are man made chemicals. Or if they happen to be natural chemicals, then it is man that is distributing them around the world in an un-natural way.

My point is that there are plenty of generally accepted solutions to do this. Your post above is as if you don't use Gasonline there is no other option!? Maybe in 20 years we will find out that some of these are even worse than using gasoline, but at least we are trying to dot the right thing vs. just pretty much saying (my perception here..) "I could just care less. Even if it harms someone else"

I quit dumping used oil on the ground and pouring gas down yellow jacket holes in my yard 20 years ago. You don't have to be a full on granola crunching, birkenstock wearing tree huger (if you want to use generic labels) to do this. So, I am "practicing" what I am "preaching" as the only thing I was talking about was pouring gasoline in your yard.

Everyone is full of contradictions, and I realize I have some. I like car. I like cars that go fast. I also tend to think we need to take better care of the Earth somehow. I doubt I am alone in these contradictions. So, if I start ranting about everyone needs to "buy american" (my Honda cars), or bicycle to work (I have three cars and haven't been on a bike in a few years), then feel free to say I am a hypocrite and post plenty of eye roll emoticons.

Jason... Good luck with the Yellow Jackets.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.
