Either I really love this stuff, or I'm a total idiot:

My first event was 07/12/1998 with Triad in Greensboro. Since then:

107 autocrosses
37 track events
13 rallycrosses
15,500 towing miles

(of those 35 track events, 22 were at VIR, about 3500 miles at VIR!)

I have a problem :) But it's a good problem  Anyone else keeping track?

At the end of each season, I go do a summary for all my *cough* loyal fans:

http://www.donniebarnes.com/race-results.html

That does not include every track "event", just races. Probably only a couple more track events per year on average. Compared to you, I'm pretty sure I have more total VIR miles, but all were on VIR full (I always do test days on race weekends, plus those long endurance races, etc).

I *definitely* have way more towing miles than you. :) Not that anyone is keeping track for comparison purposes or anything. *cough*

I did my first autocross in June 1979 ( yes 1979 ) with a Honda Civic at a Honda Club event. I also win my class that day.
It's like when you get older at some point you stop counting them and almost wish that it can go backward.

I started doing events at the tender age of 19 (1992) and there is no way I was going to keep track back then. I still don't. I try and keep a mental note on how many track miles ore on certain components for the purpose of determining a wear and replacement schedule. Turns out that was all for naught as the Focus has close to 4000 track miles and other than brakes and wheel bearings, I haven't had to replace anything that wasn't upgraded (shocks etc). The car is being retired from track duty and it makes me question if going to even that effort is worth it. Damn bullet-proof reliabilty wasting my time!

My first Auto-X was at NC State in 1978. I have not kept track. I do have about 3 boxes of trophies.

On bullet proof reliability I did keep track of my pizza delivery miles in the '72 510. I ran 50,000 miles delivering pizza. I sold that car with 237,000 miles on it and it is still on the road.

I have put about 370,000 miles on my personal cars and who knows how much on comercial vehicles I have driven.

I haven't completely kept track of autocross, other than my budget...

I am keeping a track log book with notes on each track, miles driven on track, and my expenses. In a spreadsheet. I'm considering dropping the idea of logging costs. That just documents how much money I'm wasting

But there are worse habits, I think.... :)

I never look at it as wasting money. To me wasting is when you pay and don't get anything in return. I spend money on track time and my car and get LOADS of enjoyment in return. Now car insurance is something you pay, pay, pay, but rarely get anything in return. No that is what I call a waste, though it's a part of life.

Started in July 1994 at the Road Atlanta 3-day Competition Road Racing School. First Autox was one month later in a 1990 Miata.

Between 230-240 autocrosses (includes some autox schools)

12 track events

About 20 trips to a karting track

I recently calculated that I've bought about 50 sets of tires, but that includes tires for my co-drivers over the years as well.

Lots of miles travelled :-)

Yes, unfortunately it's true, I must admit it - I am a rallycross virgin :-)

I definitely want to give it a try, things just haven't worked out yet. I even tried to get Chris and me into the VIR Euro Rally school, but they had already gone belly up.

Eric, i am sure my cohorts and i could find some space in The General for you if you wanted to experience 71 massive ground pounding HP as a means to bring you to full maturity.

Since 2000, I've done:

92 Autocrosses (100+ if you include schools)
1 Track School (VIR Full) - ended in grenaded engine
1 Rallycross (Rockingham)
12 -15 Karting events

For the 2004 season for the Celica in STS I bought 12 sets of tires alone. Don't make me bring out the spreadsheet for the cost of the setup on that car... I don't want to make anyone vomit ;) - AB
