Ok, here they are if you haven't already seen the commercials for the new VW GTI. I expect it is going to be a love/hate thing regarding the commercials. Personally, I think they are hilarious....

Eclipse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLkv1HNgoL0
Focus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSvQHOgihOA
Civic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyiYq_rvmzU

Apparently you can do some type of test drive with "Helga" at the VW site...

http://www.vwfeatures.com/?c=s4s3s2s1s0 ... u2c0t0b0a2

Two favorite moments...

1. "Civic" commercial.

German Engineer: "Vat does dis do?" (Pointing at huge air scoop on Civic)
Car Owner: "It sucks air!"
Helga: "It's definitely suckin!"

2. "Eclipse" commercial

German Engineer: "Vat time is it?"
Car Owner: "I dunno know?"
German Engineer: "Time to un-pimp ve auto" (love look his face as he pushes the buttons)
German Engineer: "Oh-Snap!"

Those are absolutely hysterical!! Saw the Eclipse one first and almost fell on the floor. It was great. They need more commercials like that.

Yes, those are good- I just hope they don't over-saturate the airwaves with them- like that Tom Smith guy at Crossroads FORD!!!!

It took watching them a couple of times, but notice the guys hand signs next time- he makes the VW symbol with his gloved hands by holding one hand with the peace (or V for victory) sign above the other hand while crossing the middle + ring finger to make the W- it's hilarious.

Has anyone watched the test drive with Helga yet? That is pretty funny as well. It has the same "German Techno vs. Ricer" thing happening as well as a bit of "Pinks" thrown in as well

I love when she says "Nice job with the interior!. I love leather". Then the driver turns away, then looks back at her and she is now wearing a fetish style leather hat (riding crop must be out of frame!) that wasn't there before. He then does a double take and it is gone (it was all in his imagination). ;)

She then says... "Are you a man or a woman, because you drive like a little girl" 8)

The Civic with the spinners on the front wheels and stock steel rims on the back is also great. :P

Richard, I second that. If I have to endure you screaming on the radio, you just lost my business forevar. Then again, I'll never buy a new car, so keep on yelling.

I have to agree Dan. At first I wan't too crazy about the wheels with the Gallardoish circles, but the front grill with the red trim looks racy. How much power do those things put out anyway & what class are they?

Those wacky Germans are at it again. There isn't anything so complicated that a German engineer can't make it more complicated.

Perhaps the most exotic use of the Wankel design is in the seat belt pretensioner system of the Volkswagen New Beetle. In this car, when deceleration sensors sense a potential crash, small explosive cartridges are triggered electrically and the resulting pressurized gas feeds into tiny Wankel engines which rotate to take up the slack in the seat belt systems, anchoring the driver and passengers firmly in the seat before any collision.

Can you take that out and substitute a V8? That could lead to a new interpretation of "neck snapping torque"! :lol4:
