Hi!

Hey, is there any reason that there shouldn't be an Oklahoma branch of THSCC?

Seems there's this flight training company out there who has chosen to hire me to write navigational software for their flight simulators (gee, I hope they don't check out my TSD rally results).

My first day there is scheduled to be Feb 13th (at least it isn't a Friday), so I will make it to the meeting at Rudino's next week. Maybe I'll bring a cake or something...

Jon K.

P.S. Yes, it feels really good to be employed again after 14 months out of work.... :D

Congrats Jon, we'll miss you. Be sure to come volunteer at Rally TN -- it's halfway!

Congrats John- our loss is their gain! :-) I believe there's a fairly decent rallycross program out there, that might be something to check out once you get settled in.

Kevin mentioned Rally Tennessee, but I think 100 Acre Wood in Missouri is even closer, and a very nice event from what I saw.

Best of all, I think fireworks are legal there!

Jon, I'm glad to hear that you got the job, but I'll miss seeing you at meetings and events. Art

Congrats on the new job Jon.

What flight school will you be working for?

Actually, Todd, I'll be working for the Simulator Systems Division of FlightSafety International. FSI has 44 training centers all over the US, Canada and Europe, and additional systems in place with all branches of the US military.

Until recently, FSI just built simulators for their own training centers, but now they are starting to sell to customers (like CAE and others do). This means more work, and more need to replicate avionics into simulators, which is what I'll basically be doing.

One of the fringe benefits of working for FSI is that I get a discount on any of the courses that they teach in any of their training centers. Hm, wonder if I can take a course on how to fly a Blackhawk helicopter? ;-)

Carl,

Yes, there is a decent rallycross program out in NEOkla. In fact, I e-mailed the RE of NEOkla Region of the "Evil Empire." You know him, or at least know of him, I'm sure - M.E. "Mad Mike" Halley.

FSI?!? Very cool! They are the best company to go through for Corporate aviation aircraft. I have alot of friends who have spent boat loads of cash with them.

Now about that discount.......

Oh yeah. Just be careful about letting him corner you and start regaling you with stories about his glory days with the Chrysler factory rally team...

Since Jon is celebrating a new job, he gets to buy the beer. Ha Ha. :beerbuds:
