A little background: I'm in Shenzhen, China, for some customer support. Yes, everything is *way* wacky here, in more ways than one would guess. This is no dream, but anyway...

Ok, I just caught the last ten minutes of this movie. Street racing in Japan. Underdog has a dead brother, beaten/killed apparently by the other guy he's racing. Underdog in a Mitsu Evo, other guy in an oldschool (my bodystyle) wrx. Other rich guy says, "You're going to race me in that piece of crap?"

Racing on the streets, no cages or belts or helmets. Obvious motion speed up. Oh yeah, both guys have their girlfriends in the car!

Of course, it's neck and neck. Toward the end, on some tight corners, it's all drift style. And naturally, underdog has a laptop mounted in the car. It's playing an mpeg of his dead brother giving him the inspriational speed. "Some drivers don't care about dying. Sometimes you have to brake... but sometimes you have to accellerate."

So he taps the enter button which engages the NOS!!!! AWESOME!!!!!!!! Passes the guy, who somehow catches back up. Right near the end, he hits enter again, FOR THE SECOND TANK! Then we get a sort of x-ray shot where we can actually see the engine glowing red through the hood! And they're pegged against their headrests, and the tunnel they're driving through get's all wavey 'cause they're going so fast. He passes the other guy, and then it's the "focus in on the driver's eye... and then through it" shot. This shows a memory of his brother crashing off a bridge. He reaches down to kill the NOS, which is beeping with some kind of assumed overload... BUT HIS GIRLFRIEND STOPS HIM! Thanks baby!

The finish of the race is through a toll booth. He blazes through, past the big crowd. The other guys slams the brakes when he gets to the toll both, gets out, disbelieving. Then, "I can't even see the tail lights! Why?!?!"

Cut to the next seen of underdog, girlfriend, and posse on some road. Underdog lights the car on fire, tosses the lap top on it, and they all walk away, without saying a word.


It's like they've stolen my life story from me!!!!!

Oh, little side note: I just got a map of this city. Now, I've been walking around for four days. The part I imagined to be the downtown, well, isn't. I was told by some people here "Oh, Shenzhen is a small city."

Well, imagine if you've been walking around a town that you think is the size of Durham, and then you find out that it goes all the way to the frickin' ocean and is about the size of LA! Dang!

Cause you know, there's always a flip side to everything. For example, I apparently drank some water that I shouldn't have, and I spent the last 24 hours with, uh, a bit of "a liquid condition".

So if you want to spend *that* day in my life, I'd be happy to give it up!!!!
