The foundation is done, the framing starts Tues, contractor expects to be completed in two more weeks weather permitting!!! :D
Started trying to get this built 11 months ago! :?
Third contractor was the charm. They are doing a great job above and beyond what is required by code, easy to work with, no hassles about doing things that I wanted, even suggested ways to save costs and get more for my money.
SPECS: 28x28', 1-3/4 story, 11' clear ceiling to bottom of 2nd floor joists for lift clearance. 18'x8' oversize insulated door, Anderson thermopane vinyl clad awning and casement windows thruout, separate 200A 220V electrical service. They would have been done before Xmas, but my entire lot first needed to be regraded, took out 12 loads of fill, then we were thrown a curve by Durham inspections twice, once that required resiting the garage due to their interperatation of the setback rules different than what was written and we had been told when doing the planning, and then requiring an independent survey to make sure we were within the new setbacks before the foundation walls could be erected.
We will soon have a warm (and cool) dry level inside place to finish our tow vehicle, a place to park an enclosed trailer, and the workshop I've wanted since I moved here.

Sounds good Chuck...post up some pics once they get going on it!

(cue Dueling Banjos....err, garages....)

We are a little behind you with our new "garage"...It's gonna be a 30x40' steel building with 14' eave height. 2 roll up garage doors, 1 walk in door, concrete slab with reinforced area for a lift. Currently waiting on the contractor to get the permit to start work. We've got the site scoped out, and the contractor tells me it should be done in 3-4 weeks- once work gets started.... Luckily for us, this is classified as a farm building, so the permits are a bit less strict, and since we're putting it in the middle of a cow pasture, we don't have to worry about setbacks.... :)

I can't wait!!!!

Bret.

That's a nice size building you're putting up, that's the size shop my brother is building for his new race shop in Buffalo. I couldn't go any bigger in footprint, that's nearly the size of my house as it is, so I had to go up instead. Fortunately we applied for the permit before the first of the year, Durham changed their building codes 1/1/06 and the new code would have prevented me from putting up any accessory structure in a side yard. since my lot is twice as wide as deep and the house is to one side, my side yard was the only place I had enough room for a garage.
