Hey Tarheelers,

I'm posting this for a friend. GM is having a ride and drive type event at the NC State Fairgrounds next week. Local help is needed to assist with this event. This is not a competition, and it does not involve driving fast or hard at all. I have worked for this organization before, and they were reliable did pay promptly.

This is really short notice as they want an answer by Friday at 3:00 pm. My understanding is that the Chevy Truck line up will be there. I don't know that if you volunteer you will get to drive anything.. so don't sign up with that in mind.

Let me make it clear that Tarheel Sports Car Club is NOT associated with this event. My contact at this organization knows that I'm a member of a local autocross club with a good reputation- and she expects that anyone from our club that signs up will be responsible, reliable, and trustworthy. In other words, if you do sign up, be sure and be on time and treat this responsibility seriously. When you contact Ann to sign up, you might want to let her know what your experience is with either autocrossing or other car related events (like rallycross or track driving).

Event: Southern Farm Show
Location: NC State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ride Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27607
Description: Outdoor Chevy Truck Consumer Driving Event. Participants will have an opportunity to test drive the Chevy Truck Lineup
Hours: 7 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Dates: Wednesday, February 1
Thursday, February 2
Friday, February 3
Attire: Khaki pants and white, black or brown comfortable shoes
Shirts to be provided
Positions: Staging Lane Assistants - Consumer Staging, Start/Stop, Traffic Monitor and Registration Assistant
Pay Rate: $175 per day. Lunch provided

Just wanted to thank Miles for this lead. My wife Kelly and I worked this event, along with fellow Tarheeler's Kieran Wright and Dick Rasmussen. Kieran and Dick were mostly stationed at the test drive area, and Kelly and I were at the Chevy Display Tent, trying to entice customers to come in and sign up for a test drive. We would then escort them down to the test drive area once they signed up.

The weather was excellent, the job was interesting and entertaining, and the $$$ could not have come at a better time for us.
