:help:

Fortunately I made it home ok to tell the tale. I wrote about my adventure here:

http://www.markodellracing.com/ga_beginning.html

The question is, will I do this again?

Hmm, only 60 or so of those around (according to Mark's writeup) and already one has claimed two lives off the coast of NC (so much for that water landing thing in their case, I guess):

Wonder what the glide characteristics are of that thing if the engine is dead. Of course, if I'm gonna fly in one, an ex special-forces guy is probably a good choice as pilot.

Anyway, great writeup. Loved reading that story.

I think your first instinct was right.

Yeah, according to Danny its not a very good glider, as far as planes go. I wouldn't want to find out, anyway.

I'm heading down to Daytona tomorrow morning to test the car. I'll be driving down this time (not flying), as the wife wants to come along.

Bill Gratton will be joining us. He is driving one of the race rigs down there for us, and is currently somewhere south of Florence.

Mark,

Good luck in this latest adventure. Be sure to put a few THSCC stickers on the car!

Good thinking. We hope to bring the car up to VIR for the THSCC time trial weekend, so we can slap some on then.

Just thought people might want to know what was going on with the team after the dubious practice at Daytona. I've had several offers for help with crewing, etc, and they are MOST appreciated.

Jon Lewis, owner of German Speed Merchants in Wilmington, has agreed to be our Crew Chief for the Daytona race. He is also supplying a few of his mechanics (as many as we need, was the way he put it), to help out as crew. Jon's folks are extremely experienced at crewing for SCCA endurance races, so we are unbelieveably grateful for their support.

Coco Strayer said if you come to Daytona, you need to get the 4-day superpass (only $90) which will give you access to everything except the pits. She also said you have to CALL the ticket office ahead of time to get this - they are NOT available at the track.
