The driver side seat back adjustment gave out on me in the 318 last week. I managed to get it to hold in one position but need to figure out how to fix it before it kills my back. Does anyone have any experience with this problem or any ideas before I rip the seat out and start on it?

It's bad timing, for I just sold both of my 318is seats to Jim Feinberg. This is a somewhat common occurence with the E30 Recaros. I'd look for a junk yard with a clapped out seat, and replace just the mechanism from it. Usually, the teeth on the adjustment gears have broken, causing the initial failure, and they aren't repairable. - AB
