So, I posted this on NASIOC, so you will have to endure the NASIOC nicks. However, I wanted to include THSCC members that would like to attend and race in a group. If you would like to go on your own, or have questions about the place, please feel free to direction questions so that I or others who have already attended can answer.

Kevin Allen is the only one who has been to both ViR and Rush Hour, however, he has yet to drive at Rush Hour.

Post if you would like to go, and I will add your name. If you are interested in running a league. Details about the league with full rules and prices will be posted on Sunday, Dec 18th.

Good day:

I know the last event not everyone could make. Furthermore, GreenShield's was not open and I had a few inconsistencies I wanted to iron out. This is an event just to go, hand out, have fun and drive go-karts before Xmas.

If you are interested, let me know. We will use this as the last event before we try to open up a League. Let me know if you are interested in going by replying. We will more than likely be running another set of sprint races with different rules.

Count me in........

Friday is the last day I plan to work this year, so I'll be more than ready to play! I'm good for Mon, Tue, or Wed. I prefer Mon or Wed, but can be there any one of the three.

Thanks for putting this together.

$35 for 18 mins, or 20 dollars for 8 mins ;)

Depends... Let me post my reivew of their 'published' numbers

I talked to one of the owners just a few minutes ago, and they are pretty open and receptive to getting you the amount of track time you need for the right (and reasonable) amount of money.

Currently, he does NOT have a way to equalize weight on the karts, but was open an receptive to see if there was anything we wanted to do to try to make it more even.

Overall, I think these guys are pretty cool, and they will do anything to ensure their customers are happy.

======================
Informational Post about Rush Hour:

- Maximum Karts on Track: 10
Reason: Insurance

- Kart Type: 6.5hp
Is this sufficent: IMHnoobO, for this track, it is quite sufficent.

- Pushished Race Types:
Sprint Race: $35, MAX 10 people
5min Practice, 8min Qualifying, 8min race

Gran Prix: $55, 10 to 30 people
5min Practice, 8min Qualifying, 20min Final Race (top racers only)

Super Gran Prix: $65 for up tp 20
$60 for 21-50
$55 for 51 to 100+ people
5 min Practice, 8 min qualifying, 15 min race, 15 min final

Arrive and Drive (cash cow): $20 for 8min

Membership: $40 for T-shirt, headsock, 1 free 8min race
Membership races:
$17 for 8min heat (standard heat length)
$48 for 3 heats (24mins)
$75 for 5 heats (40 mins)
$224 for 16 heats (128 mins)
$416 for 32 heats (256 mins)
$999 for 100 heats (800 mins)
$1499 for 6 months unlimited
$2499 for 12 months unlimited

Opinions on the evening:
- Prerace: The first time you are there, you have to go through a 'prerace' informational session. They go over the flags and you are pretty much ready to go. You HAVE to wear a full face hlemet, and if you borrow theirs, you HAVE to purchase a headsock ($2).

- Race Sessions: When you purchase your time, they give you a receipt with your name on it. When you head back to race, you have to have this to race. You hand it to the guy working the CPU and he assigns you a car.
Cars: Adjustable seats, single disc rear brake, 6.5hp engines, shoulder lap belt, Bucket seats, LED brake lights, centrifugal type clutches with single speed engines.

Track: Depending on how you want to count corners, it is about a 12 turn, non-elevation changing .33 mile track -- single track. The track is fixed as the tire sidewalls are bolted in place.

Post Race: You get a printout at the front desk of your race. This includes a lap by lap summary, finishing position, Best times of the day, week and month.

Sample Printout (you need to save this and look at it in an image editor as it is HUGE and IE will resize it to unreadable proportions).

Overall opinion:
I think that the place is running at about 80%. GreenShields was not open (it will be awesome when it is), there were no HD TVs on track to see your lap times update live (you dont know until the end). Also, the times that they have in the literature are COMPLETELY different than what I was told on the phone. I had 28mins for $35, and what I am holding in my hand is 21 mins for $35 which is complete rubbish. These were things that I thought I had discussed with them before hand that were already all in place. Obviously, they are still 'in flux' and these are things that cna be discussed and corrected before the race sessions.

Trying to pay and get on track is quite clunky, especially if you have 10+ people as they have only one place to pay. Furthermore, ensure that with 10+ people, you already have your run groups organized. That is something we had to do on the fly, and would prove to worth while to do beforehand.

They ARE open to suggestions and are VERY helpful and VERY willing to work with their customers. This was evident when we noticed they cut our main race short, and they immediately gave all the racers in that Sprint Race a free 8 minute session. Also, they are very willing to help you setup a League, and are very eager to get the Leagues underway with whatever rules you can agree on and price.

As long as we get over there and support the place so it doesnt go under, I think that the place has LOTS of promise. The course is very challenging and I think that even with 6.5hp go karts, it has A LOT to offer.

Go and check it out. We are talking about going again one more time before Christmas, so anyone who wants to go and check it out. Let us know and ask any/all questions.

People in Attendance from THSCC:
- Christine Allen
- Kevin Allen
- Stacy Herring
- Brian Herring
- Cosby Wood
- Simon Wright
- Keiran Wright
- Rich Fredrick
- Andrea 'Fredrick'

Fastest time in session one: Brian Herring -- 34.42

Fastest time in session two: Rich Fredrick -- 33.5 (wow!)

Count me in!

My wife is expecting our third child this week (scheduled for Thursday morning) -- so I may not make it next week, but I am definately in for a weekly or bi-weekly league.

I went ahead and posted updates. I am not 100% firm on the Group A price yet as I am working with the owners to see if I can get something with a little more time for than a Sprint Race that will be identical to what we will be running the League.

I will be meeting with them on Saturday, so I can post the outcome of that on Saturday evening, if you need a definite answer on price to affect which group you run in. Group B WILL be $35, if prie is an issue, and Group A will be NO MORE than 55 IFF it is at the absolute WORST it could get. I do not see this happening, and I imagine IFF there was a price increase, it would be nominal (40-45).

PM with any questions or concerns, and I hope to see you all out there.

Brian,

Perhaps you can pitch the same package that we had at VIR.

I went up with a group of 30 guys. We had the track for 3 hours and the cost was $1300 (website says $1800, but we didn't have to pay that much). Ended up being $45/person.

They had 10 karts on track, so we split into 3 groups.

Each group had an 8 min practice session and three 15 min races (total of 53 mins of seat time). You'd drive for 15 mins and rest for 30 mins.

Well, I wouldn't know anything about ViR since I wasnt invited for some reason....

HOWEVER, i will let it be known what is going on Sunday. Thanks for the input -- I will see what I can do.

It is 1200 to rent the track for an hour here, and 1200/20 == 60 dollars... still kinda expensive for a 30 min session.

Just to set the record straight I own a few different vehicles but not a Subaru. I'm a member of THSCC but not NASIOC.
My son does own a Subaru though.

I am updating the main post now with the run groups (3 now) and the information. If you want to change run groups, just post and let me know. I just put all the THSCC/NASIOC/people for fun together so people in the 'same' circles can give each other crap about how much better they are later.

Groups A and B have drivers that can interchange a lot, and if you just want to run for fun, you can go C.

Let me know. 8 drivers seems to be preferred as that is 'best' for racing fun and not too many people out on course.

Let me know what you think.

To go karting? Show up :)

We are nearing the maximum amount of people that I would like to see at the 'gathering'. However, if both of you guys would like to come, I have enough room for you guys... then that will be it.

Just show up around 7pm... show up... eat.. race.. have fun. We are just doing it early in the week due to Xmas coming up.

So, if you guys would both like to race in Group B or C, let me know as I have enoguh room for you to both race there, or you can split up.

Just let me know where you want to be.

Thanks!
