Picked it up from Folger Subaru in Charlotte yesterday. Long day, but definitely worth the drive. It's an 04 with an 05 rear bumper, fender "flares" and front seats. Has a Magnaflow muffler, otherwise stock engine & drivetrain. Yes, Brian, I've already installed my camber bolts. So let the ass-whooping commence. :P

A few pics...

These first two are a little disturbing... whoever installed the left side suspension should never be allowed near a car with tools again. The right side looked perfectly normal, but the left side had: left front lower bolt installed backward (not dangerous, just not normal); left rear - well, you can see below; you can also see that the clip that holds the brakeline to the strut is in backward, and I could pull it right out with my fingers.

Fortunately the bolts didn't back ALL the way off, so we made it home ok (210 miles). Next time I buy a used car, I'll remember to check to make sure the important stuff isn't going to fall off on the way home.

These were taken after giving the car a thorough inspection...

Looks vaguely familiar. Well, except I got rid of those ghetto looking gold wheels in favor of silver. ;)

Shit, I gotta get those inserts done soon.

Yea! Thanks for the wheels and tires ;) I am glad someone out there wanted the 'boring' non-enthusiast color :D

 ;)

The salesman is a friend of mine, and he owned the car. He traded it in for an 06 WRX wagon. He had JIC coilovers on the STi, but sold those and put an 05 JDM suspension (hence the garter) on it. While he owned it, a service guy backed into the rear bumper. When the replacement bumper arrived, it was for an 05. He went ahead and installed it, but then needed the fender flare thingies to make it blend with the fenders. He had JDM Spec C seats in it, but traded those to a friend for his 05 STi seats.

And Donnie, I still have Dan Ecclestone's old wheels - they're silver. :D They also have Falken RT615's on them. :D

OK, so for those of us who don't speak Scooby-roobie-doo, what the hell is that thing for? To collect moisture and rust out the seam on the damper to mounting ear joint? To put moisture near a brake union to enure that they rust together and snap if service is ever needed?

Actually, Dale Teague of boxer4racing has corrected me. He says that all the STi's get the garter, not just the JDM... I just assumed that since Tim said it was an 05 suspension & it wasn't black that it was JDM. It's not USDM, though. :? Whatever the suspension is, I like it. :D

Rich - you need to relax a little. I'm sure things will be just fine.

Googling STi and garter only returned naughty sites. Searching nabisco didn't hit anything eithere. Any back story there?

So what you're trying to tell us here is that there is some other reason for all the body changes other than trying to make it look like something that it's not?

He had the dent in the rear bumper at Sandblast Rally this year - it was on the right corner & was about the size of a volleyball.

We worked Stage 4 at the water splash together, so he got to follow me through the stage. That was fun.
