Pestilence. Now that's a strong word for something you hate.

As well you should

See, I recognized that mine was going down this road before I got there. Single owner car for 15 years...then two owners in three months. From what I understand, the current owner is quite happy with it. Whatever blows your skirt up, as Matt Graham used to say.

--Karl, who now pays someone else to wash his truck...ain't no WAY I'm going to drive a 15 year old Honda...

Hey!

You still have salvageable glass in that thing! Why don't you cut it in half and try to sell the front clip with windshield intact?

Ryan, you are giving up now just as it was about to all work out?!?!. ;) :poke:

Ok, my mini-rant about money pit cars (and attempt at poking fun at Ryan while he is down)…

You guys who complain about their POS Hondas, you get a great deal on these cars because they are already a POS and then you wonder what went wrong! They are money pits because the previous owners didn't take car of them and totally wore them out. Ever wonder why it was so cheap in the first place? It's not a "Honda" thing. It is the just the disease of buying an old POS and then hoping for the best.

See I know what I am talking about as I just bought a 33 year old Porsche that needs A LOT of work. Any car (such as mine) that you need to learn to weld to fix has to be a love affair (yes, I am nuts myself) otherwise it is not going to work out. I just don't think that Ryan loved the CRX enough.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

You need to put a "DIDN'T" in front of the "GIT ER DONE".

WRT my now dead CRX. Here is the bottom line:

I got what I paid for and I am not an auto mechanic.

I bought an ugly $200 car and I had my head in the clouds and thought I could make it a "nice" car for ~$3k. I spent over twice that. It adds up, and quick! The last straw was when the timing belt slipped in G'ville. It didnt hurt anything and wasnt a major thing to fix but it was literally the straw that broke the camels back. I have probably spent well over triple the amount of driving time working on it. I also have spent twice the amount of driving time worrying about whats gonna break next at an event. I didnt even wanna drive it just for fun.

The lesson I learned, if you want a "AX/HPDE" only car, buy someone elses car that has sorted it out and has a history of good performance. I am buying Tom Freeman's 91 Miata. 82k on the clock, excellent maintence records, fully setup for track and CSP/STT. Yeah its not a barn burner like the Talon but it should be reliable and fun.
