Nope, mine usually drives to the events and back home, then promptly back onto the jack stands like a good little pup.

Quote from guest attending our party at my house this weekend "I have been over here 3 times this year and that little black car is always on jack stands, just in different postions."

I actually think about driving it some but always end up taking the Exploder.

When your only car is also your autocross car what choice do you have? :D

Been there, done that, got the trophies (of course that doesn't apply to either my formula ford or Miles Beam's Corvette).

My first serious autocross car was my daily driver Datsun 260Z . . . and yes I drove it HARD on back roads, etc since I was young, stupid, and incredibly lucky. Plus those were the days before R tires. Learned a lot also . . . not the least of which was that I really shouldn't do that  . My wife's first autocross car was her daily driver Lotus Europa in San Francisco traffic. Later she daily drove my Lotus Europa for a while.

One of the safe and sane things I learned while daily driving was the width of the cars (at the tires) by sneaking up to lane reflectors, etc. and by watching my tire tracks in the rain.

I don't drive the Miata daily as it has no backwindow and with the weather forcasters here, I would run a great risk of being waterlogged every day.

I was hoping Dick would say he uses the VanDieman as a daily driver.

Additional comment: I think I've owned only one four wheel road vehicle since I first autocrossed over 3 decades ago that has never been autocrossed . . . our campervan . . . And one that has never been daily driven . . . the formula ford.

No . . . but I have driven it on the street . . . we live on a short State Road dead end street and there have been some test drives to make sure the gearbox works after gear changes, etc. excursions.

I used to drive a 914 while in College in WV and it didn't have any heat (or A/C). The "defroster" in the winter time consisted of driving with the windows down. Now THAT was fun!

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

When I was an active auto-xer I had one car with tags, my '72 PL 510. So I drove my auto-x car daily. Later when I ran on Goodyear slicks I used to scuff them in on the street. The car was a handful on Hillsboro St. with all the patches and crown in the road. :) that car did 50,000 miles of pizza delivery service. I got to drive it at 9/10ths around Rockingham road course. I sold the car with 237,000 miles on it. I think it is still driven on the street by the new owner.

Bob Kendrick used to drive his MG midget daily. It had no top, reverse, or starter. Talk about planning ahead for your parking spot.

Until recently I daily drove my 92 coupe and it was my autox car. 1st year on the same tires it was driven/autocrossed. 2nd year I trailered r-comps to and from events but still daily drove it.

Now my replacement car sits in the garage most days. I planned on the whole season being a wash while I learn to autox the car. I daily drive it when I feel like it just to practice clutch/shift since I haven't done it in a long time. I think I need more than a couple of events to learn a different car. After 4 events I bet I'm still quicker in my other car. To me 2 events is 10min of seat time. Just not enough for me. We all learn at different paces.

Driving the 05 WRX wagon today - it's set up exactly as it would be in STX (not even 50%-prepped, though) at an autox, but with lower tire pressures. These Azenis RT-615's make great street tires. Even drove through a flash-flood-type downpour the other night on them, and they were great. And I agree with Chris that the RE070's suck as street tires. They feel like they're made of solid rubber & tramline insanely, unless you have toe-in.

Drove the 2.5RS to work yesterday - has the autox suspension on it (stiffer than the WRX) & is rolling on RE92's (stock tires). It's a little harsh over rough pavement, but not too annoying. It's a lot more comfortable with the rallyx setup.

I try to drive the RS several days a week to keep miles off the WRX. Lately I'm driving about 25k miles/year (has been around 35k), so it's good I kept the RS.

No the Porsche is not a daily driver, only and occasional driver. Long time ago our autocross car where our daily driver. The 1990 Civic Si was Kathy
daily driver on R compound in the summer and Nokia Hakkapellita in the winter. I was having a company vehicle at that time. Now my daily driver is the Miata on Azenis 215, they are more comfortable then the Yoko AVS, that where like Kevin describe the RE070 (solid rubber). I'm due for a new set now and will probably go with the Azenis 615, the current set of 215 is on the car since a year and a half now. I will probably do an autocross with it when the 615 are install.

The Mini is Emmie's daily driver. Back when we autoXed the Neon it was my daily driver; now the Neon's been relegated to rallyX duty but it's still my daily driver. We just drove it to Maine for the Maine Forest Rally last weekend, now driving it around MA and NH for vacation.
