I have a friend at work who is considering buying a Jetta from the VW dealership in Durham (on Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd). He wants to make sure he will get good serivce from this delarship before buying the car. Has anyone dealt with this dealership or have an opinion of them? (I told him I'd throw the question out to you guys....)

I know there are some VW drivers in the club, and I think most of you deal with the Raleigh dealership (?); however, since my friend lives in Durham and will be getting the car serviced in Durham, he is only interested in dealing with this dealership.

thanks in advance for any insights you can provide...

It doesn't matter where he buys the car from. He can get it serviced at any VW dealership. We have a club member, Chris Walker, that works for the VW dealer in Cary. Maybe he has information on the Durham dealer.

never ever go to southern states. i can't fit in this text box the crap ive been through w/ them.

Leith VW however seems to be pretty good. ive been there twice w/ little nick picky things and theyve been great both times. they also have good prices on parts like oil filters, etc.

I don't have much good to saw about the SS VW place either. They wouldn't give me the time of day when Rebecca and I were looking at possibly getting a Jetta. I told a salesman that we were ready to test drive a car but because of the "service" that we got, we would be buying elsewhere. He seemed indifferent that he just lost a sale.

I really hate the fact that they bought the Al Smith dealerships.

ditto...no one that owns a vw would ever buy another vw from ss...i have personal experience with both ss and leith, and i would take a crotch punch before i'd go back to ss...leith is still a stealership, but they are the best around by far

oh, and leith also sponsored an autocross last year...that's gotta count for someth'n
