Amid the rejoicing that Ryan managed to wrap up the May club meeting in a mere 31 minutes, it occurred to me that I didn't like that so much. Did I really reserve an entire evening for this?

I realize that our beleaguered secretary is, well, beleaguered. But unless we have a guest speaker or a group activity planned after the meeting, what is the rush? Relax. Let's have some fun with the new member applications. Heckle an officer. Heckle a complete stranger. Heckle anybody who wants to make the meetings last a bit longer.

I realize I'm swimming against the tide. Let me offer this. Way back, whenever the weather permitted, we would adjourn to the nearest go-karting establishment after the meeting. The club secretary would come along and time how long it took for us to get thrown out. Now I guess such things as go-kart tracks are verboten in Carissville, but is the track on Tryon Rd still open? How about Adventure Landing?

We can easily make them longer if there's enough demand. One of my favorite parts is BSing in the parking lot afterwards. Although, I'd easily trade that for a few sessions of go-kartings or slotcars. :drunkin:

The last time I was over there, the Tryon Rd place was still open. I think they will even let you get your own league together on the slide track.

Track on Tryon is still running. I went with Olivier last month and he surprise me. He did some good blocking maneuver. He even squeeze me between his kart and the railings, ah the little ......

I admit that I'm somewhat of a newb to the membership meetings and thus far, I've only made it to 2-3 but I enjoyed them when they "ran over". Granted, I made sure that I didn't have plans afterward but it was fun and helped to reinforce why I joined Tarheel in the first place (fun & good people/conversation). The karts idea does sound like fun as well though....

Hey, if thats what everyone wants, I can blab on for hours about damn near anything. I just wanted to see HOW fast I could Git 'R Done :)

We also didnt have a ton of new member apps, so that ALWAYS makes it go quicker.

Funwerks on Tryon rd is in fact open. Even better...on tuesdays for $15 you get unlimited karting, minigolf, arcades and all other attractions 'till they close.

I vote for karts or slots and shorter meetings :hyper2:

Would someone like to comment on which facility is better? Adventure Landing in Raleigh vs Putt-Putt golf and games in Cary?

Anyone with first hand experience renting out either of those places?

Scott

I like the go-carts better at Putt-Putt in Cary. The slick course is really fun!

There's 2 courses and only one on Capital.
Unless it's changed
