First: Is it possible to pay your renewal dues via paypal? (Yes, I'm horribly late... the story of my life.)

Second: I've got a Dodge Durango with a very sick engine, and I need to get it repaired or replaced. Can anybody recommend a mechanic on the NW side of Raleigh, preferably near the airport.

BTW: For anyone with a Dodge Magnum 5.2l or 5.9l engine. The problem I've got is relatively common. As I understand it, oil is sprayed on the underside of the pistons to cool them. I think it's not enough is sprayed, the pistons "burn" off the lighter weight components of the oil, leaving "schmutz" behind. The schmutz then plugs up oil passages, the engine doesn't get lubed well, the oil pressure goes to zero, hilarity does NOT ensue, and replacement is imminent. This happens supposedly at 60k-70k, and mine is right around 63K. Its supposedly doesn't matter if you've been religious w/oil changes or not. Since its out of warranty, Dodge won't acknowledge its a problem with their design. But I've seen scads and gobs of people posting on some Dodge forums about this.

Thanks
Geoff

My "new" '98 Durango 5.2L has ~100k miles, with only ~40k on the NEW ENGINE. Common problem, YES. I'm hoping my switch to Synthetic, and running a couple doses of engine cleaner will keep things flowing freely for the long term. Keeping my finger crossed....

Only 60K on the factory installed engine? Geez...and folks talk junk about my Chevy's quality. 130K on my first engine, but it stopped due to "operator error" ...quarts low on oil while autocrossing.
