If that's the Eddie Bauer edition, I don't understand why they didn't paint the fender flares that light yuck brown.

I don't understand why they feel the need to keep making the car larger.

Name me a car that is getting smaller.

The only thing I can think of is the Corvette's recent length reduction.

Apparently thats what the masses want. I'm sure there's a large number of people who didn't buy in the past simply because they couldn't fit in the car. Safety also is a concern and if it doesn't do well in the crash tests then thats going to have a huge impact on sales. Apparently they were able to increase cabin and trunk size, increase track and add additional safety equipment while limiting the weight gain to 22lbs :D

It looks like Jaguar made a Miata.

That's the way the Japanese have done things from day one. Rather than try and get people to buy up to the next larger/luxorius car (like the US manufacturers), the Japanese just make the car bigger and bigger.

Look at the Corolla and Camry, the current Corolla is the same size (or bigger) as the original Camry, the Echo is easily as large as the early Corolla, etc.

Rather than have all the current Miata owners graduate to a Z3 or similar, the answer is to make the Miata bigger.

Sucks for the 0.5% of the people that are enthusiasts, but sells a lot more cars, and that is the name of the game.

I like everything but the Altezza tails. While I don't agree with teh "bigger is better" theme I understand why Mazda had to go that route.

I wonder what the possibilities of a de-contented model are--judging by the door panels, crank windows are out of the question. Side impact airbags: yuk! It could be made lighter but I doubt if it will be.

Is there any info on the motor? Is it based on the 2.3l unit in Focus & Mazda 3? Just wondering about future powerplant possibilities.

Seriously. I wonder if Ford shipped over the Jag F-type designers to Mazda after that project was killed...

I can't beleive they would make an Eddie Bauer edition of the Miata. That belongs in the Ford Exploder, not the Miata.

I really like the new body shape and interior. Without that ugly brown color though. Then again I can understand how the Miata purists would be upset that it is no longer the small basic sports car it was meant to be. I'm sure the new refinements will start jacking the price tag up.

That brown beats plain old vanilla Tan in my book. I've never liked tan interiors on anything, not even Ferraris.

I like it too, but the price of a new NB is already way too high IMO. Of course with the NC's coming out maybe the NB's price will go down and I can afford a nice used one.
