Hopefully someone here has heard of such a device.

I need to remove a couple of broken studs in the header to pipe flange and even with a pair of vise grips, I can't get it. This is the only thing keeping me from having the Miata "ready" for sunday!!!!! :x :x

Does someone here have one I could borrow?

Thanks in advance!!!

I have a tool similar to this:
http://www.chain-auto-tools.com/general ... RY201C.htm

It is the heat. I've never had it fail me. The cam (black in this picture) has teeth on it that rotate into the stud. The harder you try to turn it, the more it digs into the stud. With a three foot breaker bar, it is amazingly effective. I enjoy using it every chance I get.

Yes, the stud is usually munged up with teeth marks by the time you get it out. But not teeth that slipped, just deep.

I hate working the course at autox and I must tell you about it, often.

I've fortunately never needed one. But you can get that locally at Sears.

Ahh, yes, that may be the exact one I have.

This won't damage the stud threads:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/D ... umber=5237

If you are weary of Harbor [sic] Fright, then Mac/Snap-On may have the same thing for 5-6 times as much (at the least, I would imagine). ;)

I'd want to have both in my tool library...if at first you don't succeed, breaker bar, big hammer/vice-grips again...

If the stud is broken then why are you worried about not messing up the threads anyway?

Thanks guys. I'm going to check out the HF one and see if it looks like it will work.

If it doesn't look good, can I borrow yours Anders?

I have one stud that is broken and it needs to come out. I then have 3 studs that are currently in good shape, on the turbo down pipe, that I want to use on the stock flange.

It has been a big pain in the arse getting this car ready!!!!!!!
