As the title says, my wife and I are looking for a reliable broker to help us finance our first home (hopefully with a sweet garage!) in the next few months. We hope to live in the Five Points or NC State area.

Thanks!

Matt

How bout Kristin Cauldwell, THSCC member? I thought she was with Integrated Mortgage Strategies, but their website doesn't list her. So I don't know where she is now... :?

You've got PM. I was VERY happy with Bob Altier at RBC Centura, and their rates/fees. He did my closing and my re-fi.

I also vote for Integrated Mortgage Strategies. Our last re-fi was through them and we are quite happy.

If you are a Bank of America customer, you might find that their Mortgage branch is a good option. We used them and were very pleased with the rates and service . . . essentially hassle free. PM me if you want the name of the account executive that we used.

Thanks for the information guys! Is Integrated Mortgage local (Raleigh)? As it turns out, the State Employees' Credit Union is not very first-time-buyer friendly in terms of rates. The good thing is that they don't charge PMI.

IMS = Chapel Hill, however, it will probably take no more than 2 trips. There is a chance you can arrange the 2nd "trip" at a place more local to you (it's just the closing attorney).

Give Kristin a call. She was with IMS but moved over to Gauranteed Rate (in Durham) due to some bad mojo at IMS. She has a lot of different options available to suit pretty much any mortgage need. Her direct office # is 313-7251. Tell her you are a Tarheel member and that I sent you. She will get you the best deal possible with minimal hassle on your part.

Jim,

Mind if I drop your name for this as well? I'm also currently in the market for a house and need to see what my options are. Thanks.

Too bad I can't give out my employee benefit. For home loans and re-fi's, we can get loans at prime minus a .5%. Nice perk for working in a bank. - AB

Not a problem at all! For that matter, anybody is welcome to do that...
