Would somebody please bring one of these to a THSCC event soon?

I think they finally got this car right. The specs on this thing are so amazing that I can't believe GM is actually going to do this. Six piston calipers up front. 19" tires in rear. 500 HP, 475 ft-lb torque. The HUD has a track mode and g-meter, standard. Dry sump. Carbon fiber. Magnesium. 190 mph plus top speed. I may have to get one of these in about ten years.

you spring for the 75K (estimated) and i'll bring it to an event. they may have got it right but they have lost sight of the market. 25K jump in price over two production years, i have a hard time rationalizing that for 4 tenths of a second in the 1/4 and a top end of 29 mph higher than 2004. if its a limited production they want i'm guessing they will acheive that. BTW i didn't notice color choices in the article but i only flipped thru it.

I've heard price estimates of $62K, not exactly chump change but more in line with the '04 Z06 pricing considering the performance increase. And a relative bargain compared to the other 500 hp cars out there. :) GM slightly reduced the price of the standard Vette from '04-'05 I'll be surprised and dissapointed if they increase the price of the Z06 that much.

The rumor mill is rampant on the pricing and GM is just letting it ride. I see 2 arguments on the pricing and am curious which way it will go. First is to price it right around $65K which would follow the current pricing structure. Second is to up it to closer to $75K and do limited production runs. I hope it is not the later. I would hate to see GM turn this into something like the Viper. The Z06 has been a great bang for the buck high end American sports car. Then again it's all relative to what you can afford. That's why I'm still driving a 92-C4 instead of a 02-Z06. But I see an 02-Z06 in my future 8)

Steve, as to the colors. All Corvettes are red, the rest are just mistakes

Can't wait to see how long they go before you can pick up that 427 as a crate motor from the GMPP program.

I thought I stumbled on a link a few weeks ago, perhaps off of a corvette message board, of a gm parts supplier already having this listed. It stated nothing more other than 7.0L LS7. Had no price, date it would be available, etc. The LS2 crate motor is already available so I would think late this year. I bet they will be pretty limited though since they are hand built.

mod red interior myself. it is more car than i know what to do with but it is the best bang for the buck no doubt. and i like the fact that it doesn't beat ya up if you spend the day in it. the C5 that is.
