Same car, same suspension, same tires - my 01 Blue 2.5RS with the STi Version 5 springs/ KYB AGX struts & Pirelli PZero Neroes. Did a few autoxes last year / some test & tunes this year, the first rallyx, and VIR Full Course this past February on the same setup, only difference was the sway bars - big for tarmac, small for rallyx.

Simon mentioned this topic at our monthly nabisco get-together the other night, and I was just curious to see who else has done this. I'm pretty sure that a few of the VW people are guilty... and Tom & Miranda in the STi. Kevin Hoff?

I did that with a set of Kumho MX's. Made no changes to the car other then strut tuning, and removing the front lip for the rallycross.

Do you (or will you) swap the sway bar in and out for track/autocross/rallycross? Having put mine in just recently it seems like a lot of work - is it worth it?

We did that with the STi on SO3s. I wouldn't say at 1/32" or less tread depth they were the "optimal" choice for rallyx :)

GC6 has no front subframe to remove/ reinstall. Only have to loosen the jacking plate, unbolt from the endlinks, and unbolt from the engine support crossmember, then it slides right out. The rear bar is just those 4 bolts & twist it around the exhaust & it's out.

With the G-Stock (silver) 2.5RS, you have to unbolt & lower the exhaust manifold to get the sway bar out - you don't have to do that with the Borla header installed, as I have on the blue RS.

I'll go to the stock rear bar (13mm) for rallyx & the stock front bar is on there all the time now. If I remove the rear bar & leave the stock front bar, it's a little too loose when entering turns while braking & exiting turns under power.

Oh, and I'd definitely not want a big front bar on there when I'm rallyxing. I'd feel like something sway bar-related would bend or break due to the big bar (I could be paranoid, though).

I've done all the above except track time on the same car, same setup, same tires. I'll probably do a track day or two in the Legacy next year so it most definitely will qualify. After Targa Newfoundland in '06 you could add performance rally to the list...

I did all of the above in the Miata, although I didn't have the Azenis on for the rally-x. Kinda funny, but I hadn't even realized it until this topic came up

I was going to do this in the gti, but I have kinda chickened out for patriot course. It needs better pads and could probably use an alignment. Someday I'll get 'er out there though.

Just Koni Reds. Oh, Proxes 4s for rallyx, azenis for autox.
