I have a line on a 1994 Miata R package. I have seen the photos and it has all the right pieces (spoilers, air dams). It does have AC, but no other power equipment sans an R package.

Is there any other items that could be checked to confirm it is a real R package?

This link might help you.

R package miatas also came with Bilstein shocks and alloy wheels

Jim.. after doing some research myself, you might consider buying any '94-'95 non-R package and doing the package conversion yourself. I bet you might save quite a bit of money doing it that way. If I recall correctly, the difference is rear bar, springs, front and rear valence, and something else that escapes me.

From Mazdaspeed, that stuff might cost $1k, but maybe less. I've seen R's going for well more than that uplift over the other Miatas of that generation. - AB

Thanks for all of the advice. I was able to confirm it is an R package. Team Pastorius is now comprised of the following:

2001 Silverado
1994 Miata R
1993 MR2 HT
1973 Triumph Spitfire

1997 Baja 252 (for sale)

Jim,

You going to be racing the Miata next year? If so, which class?

Congrats on the purchase.

Just a wise man covering his bets. If the first gen 1.8 liter Miatas go to ES next season, Jim is all set for that change.

Ahh, smart man. I thought he might be another potential STT competitor. I was looking for someone else to beat up on me next year!

But why spend extra for one that isn't class legal? The LSD would have to come out, and at that point, it's cheaper to start wit a stripped down base model and add whtaever stuff you want.

Oops, I thought the 94 still had the VLSD. My bad.

I'm an idiot.
