Comparing engine v 2.0 to version 1...

Version #1 had a whopping 145-150 psi cylinder pressure. I attributed this to a big cam and not being broken in.

Version #2 has a comparable cam and similar break-in miles. Cylinder pressure is now about 215 psi in all cylinders.

Pretty sure I goofed up on version #1. Saturday we find out if version #2 is worth a damn!

I'm 99% certain that version #1 suffered a death due to a combination of:

1) valve spring pressure too high.
2) Cam timing way off (try over 20 degrees off...)

Scott,

I HIGHLY recommend that you do a leakdown test while this version is still new/healthy. Leakdown numbers are a much better indicator of engine condition later on than compression numbers.

If I may ...

I drove Scott's car, and I would like to shoot the first volley of the "Guess the peak HP" poll:

155 HP at the wheels.

I appreciate Mike's enthusiasm, but don't think it will be that high. Mike is mistaking this thing called "torque" for hp.

I'd guess close to 155 ft-lbs at 3500 rpm, but peak power won't ever go over 140 (at about 6000 rpm).

Quite so ;) Not that I'm complaining. Looks like my butt dyno needs some calibration as well.
