Greetings!

After 9 years and 300K miles (225K on FORD crate motor) the
Crown Vic Interceptor has been "decommisioned" and replaced
with a '01 F250SD XLT 7.3TDI extended Cab P/U.

I had never, ever, seen myself owning a truck but after driving it
two days I can start to understand this "truck thing". Turbo Desiels
rule! We took it for a shake down ride last night to north Durham
n advance to the tow down to Savannah.

Even with a full complement of tires on the rack and 100lb nitrogen tank (which really pushed the CV over the limit) it was like nothing back there. Crusing up the long grade on I540, 90mph at 2000 rpm, with plenty more to go rock solid steady even though the construction zones at I85.

I did upgrade the factory shocks to Bieldsteins but other wise is as it
left the factory. 26K miles like brand new with full service records from University Ford.

Amasing the stuff they make for these trucks, all sort of Chips,
exhaust and intake systems. Very tempting!

You won't be disappointed Mark. My boss has one and has had to tow our 10,000 gallon fuel truck (10,000 x6.7 lbs/gal = 67k ls + ~ 60k lbs for truck and trailer = ~120,000 lbs) out of the mud and then up hill with his truck. He said that the truck didn't even notice that it was back there.

You won't have any problem pulling the race car.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Diesel Torque. :D

We went to Toledo OH this past weekend for the Pro-solo. Going through West Virginia on I-77 I had the cruise set at 80 going up the mountains with no problems. The only time I had to slow down was for the corners.

The truck just plain hauls A*#. :D

This will be my first tow with my own PSD Ford.

BTW everyone I got the story on the weighted tags, I'll post that up separately.

I can say first hand that Mark's truck is very nice. Seemed to be in perfect shape at least from what I saw from the outside. My Dodge, on the other hand, had not been treated as well but, it too towed like a champ. Not the power stroke but the Cummins 5.9L turbo diesel. 16.4mpg on the way back from Roebling Road. Strong bladdrs required as there was no need to stop (but we did for food).

Shawn's combo is just a bit longer than mine 996 2500 with extended cab and long bed). Mark's is a baby truck with just the short bed!

Diesels are just the way to go!

Now THAT is a strong number. That's hovering around the 16.8-17.5 I've been seeing around town NOT TOWING.

Diesels do indeed own.
