Ayrton Senna died? 25 years ago today: https://autoweek.com/article/formula-on ... dailydrive

I was playing golf over in Greensboro when the ranger came by and told us.

I was to turn 5 that year. Nascar was all i vaguely knew. I’ve certainly seen documentaries o him. We can all wonder what if. I wonder how much the stress of believing the Benetton was still running traction control, the pressure to perform in the Williams, the pressure of the hot shot rookies coming.... was all getting to him. I wonder if he stayed with McClaren...

My theory has been that the steering column broke. The documentary on his life portrays that he seemed to know he was not getting out of that car Sunday.

Lets not forget Roland Ratzenberher either.

I thought the investigation found that a rear tire losing pressure was the culprit (that, and a high speed turn with no run-off room). I seem to recall reports that the judges wanted to go after Pirelli.

No, the Williams team was actually charged with manslaughter, but acquitted by Italys courts. The finding there was a modofication done inproperly to the column to adjust the wheel for Sennas cpmfort broke. Apparently if one watches the onboard you can see his inputs getting sharper and sharper before it broke. The team claims it broke in the accident. The shaft was modofied because another shaft couldn’t be produced in time for the race.

Some blamed the safety car and the tires getting cold. Senna can be seen pulling up by the safety car and signalling to speed up. I want to say it was the second time in F1 history a safety car was deployed.
