For any of you with LeMons cars, or anyone that likes vintage car racing in a country-club environment:

PARK YOUR CRAPETITION LEMON NEXT TO A COMPETIZIONE FERRARI AT SAVANNAH

Hutchinson Island GA--Want to expose vintage-race Ferraris, Jags, and Trans-Am cars to the hantavirus infection of your hooptie track machine? Lemons racer Richard Pierce has somehow convinced Savannah Speed Week to allow a Lemons-racecar show at the Savannah Speed Classic on Oct 27-29.

Besides playing Bill Murray to Speed Week's Bushwood Country Club, Lemons teams showing their race cars will also get:
Paddock show space with fancy-pants concours signage
Credentials for owner + team/family at Savannah Speed Classic, Oct 27-29
Two credentials for Hilton Head Concours, Nov 4-5
Lemons-racecar parade lap 11am Sunday morning
People's Choice Trophy presented by the Savannah Speed Classic, no doubt to the trophy sponsor's undying chagrin
To put your proudly putrid pile into their previously pristine paddock, download & return a signup form before Oct 20. Need more info? This is their deal, we're useless: Email Richard directly or the Savannah/Hilton Head guy, Sawyer Strelcheck.

It says by the 20th, but they will accept late registrations.

Sawyer's e-mail:
sstrelcheck@hhiconcours.com

This was fun, you guys should have done it. Parking the Electrica 007 at the podium next to John Surtees Lola T70 so we can get our award was a surreal experience. The racing was good too, I enjoyed watching a Datsun 510 duking it out with a Mk1 Rabbit and watching an aggressively driven sports car run down a very carefully and slowly driven prototype. Funny thing, the slowly driven prototype won its class after all of the other, more aggressively driven prototypes blew up during the 1-hour "endurance" race.

Was the race held on the Hutchinson Island track? I recall attending the inaugural race there, for North American Touring Cars and Indy Lights ... a long time ago.

Congrats, but exactly what award did you get?

It was the Hutchinson Island track. We got the People's Choice Award, which I have no idea how they select. I didn't know it existed until we won it. Based on the other cars that were on exhibit, I'm guessing that we won it for being the shiniest turd in the punch bowl:
