I don't have any issue with putting my 3 year old in pickup truck with a car seat so long as it doesn't have airbags or I remove the airbag. It wouldn't be a regular occurrence, just if there was an emergency. Her preschool is in town so there are no highways or roads faster than 40 mph involved.

My wife vetoed commuting in that CRX because of the cheesy tail light cluster and the wheels. I went online to find used OEM lights to show her how cheap that would be to change and then found out that CRX parts cost a fortune :( She has always wanted a CRX and an El Camino - Super classy. Maybe I will luck out and find a non rusty Subaru Brat and get both in one package.

I think most modernish regular cab pickups will have a switch to disable the passenger side airbag with the key.

The Miata and the 2005 Colorado I owned both had the ability to turn the passenger bag off with the key for just this purpose.

We ended up having to change my daughters preschool to one near where my wife will be working so the second car needs are a lot less child related. We are set on a small pickup now. I'm looking at 22R / 22RE toyota pickups, Ford Rangers, and Mazda B series.

I'm hoping this truck doesn't end up being a pile of shit when I check it out:

Also, for NC cars sales I need the title and we need to find a notary, right? Do I need anything else?

What would possibly lead you to believe that's a POS? Primer exterior, missing parts of the grill, unlisted mileage or the I'll fitting camper?

In NC, I think just the seller portion of the title needs to be notarized. A Bill of sale never hurts.

I ended up with this 1987 toyota pickup 5 speed. 130k miles, no rust in the frame or bed, just some cosmetic rust on the body work. It used to be a farm truck and is appropriately beat up. It runs well but the brakes need service. The previous owner seemed to think that telling me he hadn't "needed to do any maintenance since 2011" was a good thing. The only issue it needs resolved is diving left under braking. The slider pins in the front calipers are seized and the inner pads are fully worn. I'm doing new pads, rotors, pins + complete rebuild of the drums, new shocks all around, and new brakes hoses. If that doesn't solve the issue I'm going to mess with the torsion bar in the front and see if its preloaded wacky.

I'm planning to do the brakes, build a rack for the back, then call it good.
