For anyone curious about what it's like to own the BMW check engine light of doom M5, an update at ~13 months an 7k miles:

- Changed the oil a few months ago with a glowing report from Blackstone. Going to roll the dice and hold off on bearing replacement until I see "something" in the scan
- Still have a little brake rattle from the LF but hasn't changed
- Had to replace a hood strut as it wouldn't hold the hood open
- My 14 year old son's friends think it's cool

Sorry for nothing more interesting to report. It's nice to have a great car that I can just drive and enjoy. I know something major will blow up, eventually.

Now the busted shit on the M3 is an entirely different story. That car is kicking my ass.

The good part of this story is that when you're done with the car, you'll likely be able to sell it for what you paid for it or more...pretty damn good deal. ;)
