So, since one of my heroes, Stephen Westerfield, has gotten a Harbor Freight scissors lift I have decided to pull the trigger. Normal price 1499 and there is a 25% super coupon right now. Is this the best it's going to get?

Make sure you spring for "Larry ramps". They are worth it.

You need a lift for scissors?

That's a pretty good deal. If you don't have room for a 2-post, it's the way to go IMO.

Unless you are lifting a truck, I don't think it's even usable w/o the ramps. Took us the better part of a day to build the ramps, and get it up and running, but not a bad project.

I guess I'll get it figured out, got notice it is being shipped. I wasn't expecting it this soons as everything I read on line says it takes weeks. I'm going to be out of town for 5 days around Christmas

If you call them, they can give you the freight company handling the delivery and possibly you can talk to them and have it held at the terminal for you.....assuming you have a way to pick it up from there.

For someone with a garage that cannot support a lift, this is very intriguing. Any concerns about it being tippy when at maximal extension? It seems like the lift blocks under car access for clutch/trans/exhaust work, so this would mostly be for brakes and fluid changes, correct?

If you can get a 5x10 landscape trailer, it will make unloading it much easier. It's damn heavy, so don't plan on just using a buddy to help lift it off the back of a truck. Stephen and I unloaded his off the back of his truck using an engine hoist, but it would have been easier had it been lower like on a trailer.

Also don't forget to read all the requirements like "3-prong 250V/20A (NEMA L6-20P) power plug (not included)." You can get the the plug and matching receptacle via Amazon, no problem, but that assumes you already have the appropriate power source in your garage. You also need the appropriate hydraulic fluid which isn't included either.

Will not lift that high but the center of the car is accessible.

Thanks Patrice... I had seen that sold by Flyin Miata in the past and thought I recalled a similar price point to the HF product. The low rise 3" collapsed height is very impressive as well.

The HF seems like it raises the vehicle high enough to be a danger for tipping, at least based on the pics on the website, but that could be just the angle of the photo?

Here's Stephen's on his HF lift. It's very stable IMO.

that's awesome.... Perfect for someone like me. Can you at least change the oil in the car with that lift? Tranny fluid? I guess the only thing that it wouldn't be good for is a clutch...

Actually since that pic, Stephen has turned it around (notice the overhang distance is different front to rear) and you could now do a clutch on FWD car.

Yeah, watched a youtube review on it. I figured I could get the plug and receptacle at Lowes. I guess this will go on top of the list of projects so I can get to the other projects. I should be able to straddle it with the Cayenne shouldn't I? If, and that is a big if, I get a lot of stuff done I thought about recessing it in the floor similiar to the 12 Gauge Garage guy.
