Several s2k guys have successfully ordered sparco equipment (seats mainly) but also harnesses and racing suits for half the price on the Italian site (which is secured and encrypted like the US site)

sparco.it

Read the last few pages here: http://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-racing ... 257/page9/

Import taxes were only $11 and folks are getting the Rev seats for $343 shipped while still having FIA compliance.

HANS devices go for $250 brand new in the UK: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorspor ... ans-device

With the exchange rates being what they are, it's a complete waste to pay the same company 2-3 times the price when it can be had for MUCH cheaper.

Yep, several people on the Lemons forum have bought a HANS from that site. The catch is they have an FIA cert sticker, but not an SFI one. It's the exact same unit, but the SFI cert adds $$$ to the price. Most sanctioning bodies know a HANS is a HANS when they see one so they never check for the missing cert.

For a fee, I'll bet they would, but I don't know for sure. Besides the tethers there is nothing else that wears out, so I don't understand the need for re-cert, but they can't make money otherwise.

I would imagine they xray or crack test them to avoid the composite delaminating under stress (e.g. a crash).

The composite? 90% of them are not much short of injection-molded plastic. They do make high-dollar CF models, but nobody I know has one because we aren't F1 or NASCAR with unlimited budgets.

It's just a money-grab, IMO.

Well, you could ask them, or even watch the process. The hybrid's are processed at their shop in Mooresville.

And you do know someone... Skippy has one, and Danny was always borrowing it. (neither drive for Duff anymore) I loved that thing; it weighs nothing. But yes, it is stupid expensive. Mine weighs ~2.5lbs, but it was $490 (apex)

This is good timing. My Hybrid Pro has a January 2012 sticker, so I need to get it recertified prior to Barber in February. I guess there is no time like the present. - AB
